HOORAH FOR KITTY CATS!
HOORAH FOR KITTY CATS!

As you can tell from my photo, I'm a cat lover. Love my kitty!

Never really got turned on by dogs. They're OK but I just don't really like them. I think they smell, I don't like being slobbered on, I don't like being jumped on (and those nails!) and I don't like being barked at or growled at. That about takes care of that.

WHY KITTYS ARE SO SPECIAL

Now kitty cats--that's a whole other story. Just for clarification, I'm only referring to house cats here. They don't smell, don't slobber on you, they jump delicately into your lap (yes, I always de-claw mine), they have a gentle voice that only mews quietly (usually), they're independent, low maintenance, do some really funny things when playing and make you feel singled out and special that they have picked you to bestow their affection on.

CATS DO THE FUNNIEST THINGS!

We cat lovers know how much a cat can bring into our homes because we know what unconditional love a cat can give.

Cats are often depicted as selfish or even conniving. Many people who don't care for cats also think that training them is impossible yet this couldn't be further from the truth.

If you show cats unconditional acceptance and love up front, then they will be affectionate and may even follow instruction. My cat knows that when I raise my voice or give him a dirty look that he needs to knock off whatever he is doing. My Baby understands that he is my number one priority and I give him plenty of care and attention so he trusts me completely. In return, he gives me lots of attention if I'm ill or sad.

Maybe the lesson here is that when we extend love to others the likelihood is that we will get the love back ten-fold. This can be a hard lesson to hang on to in the human world, but our cats are there to remind us daily. Over the years my cats have taught me to trust my instincts and open up to give love and kindness to others.

I wonder if people who aren't cat lovers are missing out on the wonderful lessons of love that cats have to share.

Hi again Ruthie,,,

What a great way to start my morning, with smiles and laughs! I've seen the video before but it never ceases to make me laugh. I often wonder if the kitty who pulled down the toaster, and the one flung from the fan were hurt lol,,probably not, but geeze!

As an avid buyer on Ebay, the picture you have here about the 'tag' is priceless! I can so relate!

Thanks again for another great hub!

Hi Ruthie,

Yes, i was busy. I was excited to read the hubs about cats. Cats are my favorite pet but in my case, dogs come a close second. But as far as maintenance, you are absolutely right, cats are definitely low maintenance.

Looking forward to more of your hubs,

Patty

My daughters boyfriend doesn't like cats he thinks they are sneaky,I have to agree but for good reasons. I have had dogs in the past and other furry creatures but they never sooted my lifestyle. If you have any advice about how to write a better hub I would appreciate any and all advice, this is new to me and the 2 hubs I have written are my first time trying. Thanks again

I love cats but also love dogs slobber and all. Our dogs love our cats and our cats love our dogs. Sometimes it's hard to believe how much they care about each other. Two of our cats started living in our barn we didn't know they were there but our dog did. He had already found them and made friends with them enough to get them to come to the house with him. Lonely scared and hungry little cats.

Thanks for stopping by. Sorry, just don't like dogs much, had a really bad experience when I was young that I just can't seem to get over.

Glad your dog saved the kitties though. He sounds nice.

I don't like German Shepherds . Wouldn't own one have never met one I like. My granddaughter works for two vets and she said Shepherds are the ones they have to watch out for more then Pit Bulls.

I love cats! Just babysat my sisters 3 cats and a dog for 10 days while they were on vacation. They are so cool and funny.

I grew up with dogs and cats but not at the same time. When I was very young my dad raised Beagles as hunting dogs and we had some as pets too.

When I got older my sister and I brought every stray cat in town home. Between the two of us we must have had more than a dozen.

I would definately have cats now but my son and husband are both allergic to them. But I still and will babysit my sister's cats for her anyday!

Moonlake--if a dog gets any bigger than my cat--I'm backing away. And, no, I DO NOT like German Shepherds. Their teeth really scare me!

Awww, I just think cats have way more personality than other, ahem, four-legged domestic creatures. Love them too, but cats you know just kinda stand out! Loads of fun in this hub :-)
