What lacrosse equipment do you need?
57How to find the right Lacrosse Equipment
I love Lacrosse! One time in high school some buddies and I were playing lacrosse without the right equipment. A big defenseman (a friend fo mine) took a hard shot to the head. We all laughed, but he blacked out & ended up with a huge welt on his forehead. It was there for a week. Since then, I reccomend using the proper lacrosse gear. It can save you from weeks of pain (or at least embarrassment!).
When you first start playing, getting the right Lacrosse equipment can be expensive, but its really important. Most leagues & schools won't let you play without at least having the basics. I reccommend when you start out just get basic equipment, then as your skill & game level improves you can upgrade to nicer (and more expensive) gear. These basics include a helmet, shoulder pads, arm guards, gloves, a stick, mouthpiece, & cup. You can find all of this gear at http://astore.amazon.com/buylacrosse-20. Make sure you get the right gear, it will allow you to play your best game!
Proper head protection most important part of protective lacrosse equipment you will need.Your lacrosse helmet, (men’s lacroose) protects your head, your forehead and your face. In women's lacroose most contact is restricted, they only wear protective googles. We reccomend you always wear your helmet when you practice or skirmish. Although the helmet will echo loaudly and you may need to cut your hair, but it should protect you from any severe head injuries.
Another essential piece of equipment is lacroose Arm guards, which protect your upper and lower arm. These are only neccesary for men's lacroose. While you are running with the ball, you will constantly be geeting checked. These gaurds can keep from seriously injuring or breaking your arm.
The next part of the equipment you need is lacrosse shoulder pads. This great piece of equipment allows you to hit and to take a hit. These pads are smaller than they are in footbal and allow you to have greater flexibility and movement. They provide some protection to your collerbone, your shoulders and your chest.
Lacrosse gloves are designed to protect your finger, you hand and your wrist and at the same time give you a lot of flexibility and control over the ball.
A lacrosse stick is both and deffensive and offensive weapon. A good stick should be made out of lighwieght shafts and high quality mesh shaft. Deffensive sticks are optomized for durability and for scooping ground balls. Middie and attack sticks are optimized for craddling and shooting. STX, Brine, and Warrior are some of the major brands that make these sticks.
We have a lot of lacrosse equipment and sticks available at our store.
Feel free to check it out. Thanks, Spencer!

I would add that the speed positions in football are the best ones to play. You don't want to be training like a lineman.
