Lake Windermere has the highest hill and deepest lake in the whole of England. Its breathtaking landscape has made it one of the most beautiful places for a summer retreat. It was connected to London by railroad which was built durig the Industrial Revolution for transportation of cotton and wool. After ehe decline of the cotton industry, the Lake District reinvented itself as a tourist destination. Windermere was also the home of the famed poet William Wordsworth.

The picture shows the local stone that has a very special dark green color.

The sheep wrap is an amazing land art constructed on the hill. Cumbria has more sheep than people!

Beautiful spot. Apparently it's been protected from rampant commercialization.
