Lamb of God
79
Think carefully about what you will be reading..
The imortance of the sacrificial lamb, is evident in Israels history, it was part of the obeying Gods Law on forgiveness of sin.
But a particular interesting part here is in Gen22 Where Abraham is mimicking the place of God the Father in heaven, as he carries out the role of offering his son Isaac as a sacrifice.
With Isaac having the burden of the sacrifice to carry on his back the wood, is also a type of Christ carrying the wooden cross on his back to the point of sacrifice.
Ge:22:6: And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son.
Then once the alter with the wood was ready Isaac said...
Ge:22:7: And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said,................. Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
Ge:22:8: And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
Ge:22:9: And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
Ge:22:10: And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
Ge:22:11: And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
Ge:22:12: And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
Ge:22:13: And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
God had supplied a "RAM" which was fully grown lamb, symbolising Jesus Christ as the Lamb for sacrifice, and a ram was never used in the law because it would have blemishes and scars and will be with blemish. The Thorns were also the symbol of Jesus carrying a crown of thorns another reason for the Ram also, is that the ram would have carried on it, scars of battles and bruises from its rivals, and this would symbolise that it was scared by the world and it would carry these things to the sacrifice with it, describing our sins our sins.
Ex:12:5: Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Eze:46:13: Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt offering unto the LORD of a lamb of the first year without blemish: thou shalt prepare it every morning.
Eze:46:15: Thus shall they prepare the lamb, and the meat offering, and the oil, every morning for a continual burnt offering.
Joh:1:29: The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Joh:1:36: And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
1Pe:1:19: But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Re:5:6: And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Re:5:8: And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
Re:5:12: Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
Re:5:13: And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
Re:6:1: And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
Re:6:16: And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
Re:7:9: After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Re:7:10: And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
Re:7:14: And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Re:7:17: For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Re:12:11: And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Re:13:8: And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Re:14:1: And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
Re:14:4: These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
Re:14:10: The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
Re:15:3: And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
Re:17:14: These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Re:19:7: Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Re:19:9: And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Re:21:9: And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
Re:21:14: And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
Re:21:22: And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
Re:21:23: And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Re:21:27: And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
Re:22:1: And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
Re:22:3: And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
Mary, had a little Lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school each day,
It wasn't even in the rule.
It made the children laugh and play,
To have The Lamb at school.
And then the rules all changed one day,
Illegal it became;
To bring The Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak His Name!
Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots and tears.
What must we do to stop the crime,
That's in our schools today?
Let's let The Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray!

Hi, I've just read this passage from the Bible recently; and you've instilled passion and insight more to be held in this write. I love the way you ended it with the nursery rhyme - tying up the Hub with signifcance of what is happening in schools today. Great read!!

This was wonderful! I always think it is most interesting that Issac was a grown man at this time as well. The wood symbolizing the Cross is another great point you have made.
The poem was an extra added delight! You are so right on, about letting the Lamb come back to school...
Again Wonderful job!
