The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (super light) is a new addition to the Gallardo line. Don't let the "lite" fool you though, it is only lighter in weight - allowing the car to shave .2 seconds off of the Superleggera's 0-60 time (3.8 seconds and the official Press Release states 0-62 mph).

By replacing the glass on the bonnet (the hood covering the engine) with a transparent polycarbonate and using carbon fiber in the contruction of the rear diffuser and underbody covering, the rearview mirrors, door panels and the central tunnel's covering the Superleggera is 154 pounds lighter.

Consumers were able to place their orders as of March 2007, Lamborghini cautioned the public that the Superleggera production numbers would be lower than the standard Gallardo. One sources announced that only 110 of the 350 cars will be making their way to North America and the price point is $220,300 USD (at the time of this writing all 2007 models are sold out and there are pre-orders for future production in 2008).
