Landing Pages - What Are They?

A Landing Page is basically a web page that visitors "land" on after clicking on an advertisement or through general internet surfing via search engine results pages. The Landing Page is a specific page on a website that is tailored towards "making the sale" (or in Internet Marketing babble, "getting a conversion" or "generating a lead"!)

On some landing pages, the website owner may not be trying to sell a product. On such pages, a lead could be generated when a visitor subscribes to a newsletter, for example. If you are promoting a product though, the landing page is where you sell, Sell, SELL! It is for this reason, the landing page is also referred to as the "Squeeze Page".

Landing Page Optimization

Your Landing Page Conversion Rate is influenced by how good your landing page is. It's not the only factor, but it's a very important one. Here's why:

When people come to your landing page they will unconsciously notice 2 Main Aspects:

  1. Design - Is your landing page cluttered with too many ads or is it simple and attractive?
  2. Content - Do you have too much content all over the place or is it structured? Can the content be skim read easily to obtain a big picture of what is being said?

All too often, these simple aspects are overlooked. The result? A lower Landing Page Conversion Rate.

That is why your squeeze page has to be simple, uncluttered and effective!

The sample landing page above is about as uncomplicated as you can get. It's one I've whipped up for the purpose of this hub and it's called "Fat Loss Secret - Exposed!" which is promoting a product that is currently selling well online. It "looks" a little bit fancy but in reality it's a piece of cake (I'll show you why later).

The Basic Components in the Landing Page Template:

1) Header - the red area up top with landing page title.

2) Tag Line #1 - this is the next line down which explains a bit more about the product being promoted

3) Image - This image is one from the product homepage.

4) Text Area #1 - This is the text area to the right of the image.

5) Text Area #2 - This is the text area below the image, occupying the full width of the page.

6) Tag Line #2 - This is another tag line. It's purpose is to provide a call to action for the customer to press the button.

7) The Button - the box down the bottom that often says "Buy Now" or in the example above "Shocking Proof Here!".

How To Make Your Own Landing Page With No Programming Skills

*****************************************************************************************************

Simply right click on this link and "save" my IMG | Landing Page Generator software (worth $47) for FREE.

*****************************************************************************************************

Features

  • It's a wizard-style software executable file (*.exe)
  • It guides you through a simple Question/Answer interface
  • There are 30 Steps, meaning you can customize 30 components in the Landing Page, including background, text colors, links etc.
  • No knowledge of HTML is required for basic pages (although using <P> and <BR> tags is handy)
  • For advanced users, you can use HTML to customize your page when filling out the input boxes
  • (I probably shouldn't promote this given I'm giving this away for free but...) there is really nothing stopping you pasting any sort of code in the large text areas, so I can say it's Adsense Supported! If you want to put Adsense ads on your landing page, I guess you can too!

FAQ: Why is this software free?

Well, i thought about selling it to recover some of my costs in making it but:

  1. It's the first software program that I made
  2. It's nothing fancy and I'm not a programmer by trade, I'm a civil engineer
  3. It has some limitations I can't fix yet, (see below)
  4. I wanted to "add value" and help people starting out with internet marketing (i'm being brutally honest and putting this as point 4 because it was not my first thought - i just wanted to make money out of this)
  5. I enjoy being part of the HubPages community and wanted to help promote this leading online publishing 'ecosystem'. I've done this, as described above through the backlink in the Link Bar at the bottom of the landing page. Also, there are a couple of links to other people's Hubs within the software itself.
  6. There is a link back to one of my blogs in the software as well.

Software Limitations

Like i said, there are a few limitations to this package (some deliberate, some not)

* Each landing page has a Link Bar in small font down the bottom. In this area, you place your copyright information and links to 4 content pages from your website. The second line contains a mandatory backlink to HubPages and to this Hub. In exchange for free software, this is only fair and helps provide exposure to HubPages (which was one of my goals).

* The layout of the Landing Page is limited to the template in my example in terms of format - eg it must have an image in the place i've shown. There are optional fields which are identified as you use the software to create your page. However colors, borders, background colors and other features of the template above are customizable through the software.

* The software creates only 1 landing page each time, it does not support multiple pages.

Many thanks for sharing your software - I would be interested to know how much traffic you are generating from the links to your blog and to this hubpage (you probably guessed I'm more interested in the software as an internet marketing tool rather than a landing page generator!).

That's ok! It's my first software so we'll see how it goes. If you have the know-how to make your own more complicated software I think you'll go places!

I can only track traffic to this hub through HubPages. Unfortunately my blogs are hosted free by someone else (ie not my own dotcom) so I can't really monetize them too much. But I figured I'll give this Landing Page Generator away this time and see how it goes. Thanks for dropping by!

I have tried your software, no problem with all limitations, but still hope if you may release latest version with multiple pages.

Anyhow this is a good and useful work buddy..

Wow Man :-) I just wont to be your fan....like your article on landing pages a lot. It made me sit up and think which might be painful at time but always worth it. also had a little look at some other stuff you have written and hope it would be OK if I could put a link from a self help blog I write..just done an article on Depression which my twin is currently suffering from...don't think it will drive a mass of traffic but if it helps just one person that's cool.

Thanks heaps Mark! Yeah, feel free to link to the hub. I knew about that info for a while and the intention by writing it was to help more people overcome depression.
