The Biggest Cruise Ship

Late in 2009 the Oasis of the Seas will make its maiden cruise through the Caribbean. This cruise liner is the jewel in the crown of Royal Caribbean International’s fleet.

Oasis of the Seas will be the most luxurious floating hotel on the high seas. Fun, luxury, many a Caribbean port to see … relaxation, fine dining and the wonderful life at sea are all a part of life on the largest cruise ship in the world.

The Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas sets sail from her home port of Fort Lauderdale in December 2009 for a series of cruises through the Caribbean islands.

This innovative cruise liner will be the first to offer seven different neighborhoods for the passengers to relax and enjoy – The Boardwalk, Royal Promenade and Central Park to name a few. The four other neighborhoods are yet to be unveiled.

So if you are into cruising then this could be a cruise of a lifetime. Be one of the passengers on one of the first cruises through the Caribbean on the Oasis of the Seas.

The Boardwalk

The Boardwalk is styled after the piers around the world. It is a fun family environment with activities for all ages to enjoy. And there are some first ever things to do at sea on the Boardwalk – ride the first carousel or zip-line cable used at sea. The original handcrafted carousel is a feature of this bustling neighborhood.

Watch water shows in the AquaTheater. This is a unique experience. By day, you swim in its swimming pool and lounge on the sun lounges on he tiered decks. At night, the AquaTheater comes alive with all sorts of surprises to keep the guests transfixed. Try climbing one of the rock walls high above the boardwalk for an exhilarating experience.

There is shopping galore in the shops and dining in the casual restaurants and bars lining the Boardwalk.

There is unique accommodation – suites with views over the AquaTheater and staterooms with balcony views over the action of the Boardwalk. There are 28 double storey suites with windows from the ceiling to the floor.

The Royal Promenade

With all the features of Royal Caribbean’s Voyager and Freedom of the Seas there are new things to see and do on the Oasis of the Seas. There is a large skylight to let natural light flood in through Central Park above. And how about the Rising Tide Bar that moves up and down between three decks simulating the rising tide.

The Royal Promenade remains the heart of the ship being one central place for passengers to gather, dine, relax and play together. Truly a vibrant, exciting part of the ship and the moods change with the times of the day.

Relax with coffee and a newspaper in the morning; and as people get out of their beds watch as the activity builds throughout the day. At night it truly comes alive with the excitement of the nightlife on board the largest cruise liner in the world.

The Royal Promenade on the Oasis of the Seas has a mezzanine level that overlooks the activity below. Making it an ideal spot to sit and watch. You can even book a stateroom that overlooks the Royal Promenade.

Outdoor Dining on the Biggest Cruise Ship

An incredible open outdoor area filled with wonderful tropical gardens and meandering pathways is an innovative addition to the Oasis of the Seas. You can dine outdoors in one of the sic restaurants, relax with a book in a quiet area.

It is an elegant public meeting place for the passengers. Quiet and relaxed by day, and vibrant and alive at night.

Central Park is at the heart of the ship and is longer than a football field. More than 300 staterooms overlook Central Park rising six decks above the ground below.

Interesting Facts About the Largest Cruise Ship in the World

Oasis of the Seas was ordered in February 2006 and her keel was forged in the Aker Ship Yards in Finland in December 2007. A competition was held to name this magnificent new ship and she was named Oasis of the Seas in May 2008.

Oasis of the Seas will operate Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale, where you can find luxury Fort Lauderdale hotels near the dock. Her cost is US $1.2 billion and she weighs a total of 220, 000 tonnes. Hailed as the largest cruise ship to be built she is 260 meters long, 47 meters across the beam, rises 65 meters above the water line, draws 9 meters of water and has 16 passenger decks.
