A man confessed to killing his wife during a domestic dispute in Las Vegas this morning.  The homicide occurred at a home on Harris Avenue around 7 a.m. according to Metro police.  They say a man walked into a police station and admitted to slitting his wife's throat.  The victim's body was later found in the couple's home.  Police also discovered their three children sleeping inside.  The suspect was taken into custody.  The domestic violence homicide remains under investigation.

It's expected to reach 111-degrees in the Metro by Monday according to the National Weather Service.  Summer's hottest days are officially here.  Today's high will hit 105-degrees, tomorrow will reach 104 and Sunday could touch 110-degrees.  However, these upcoming days are just warming up to Monday and Tuesday's 111-degree-high.  Back in 2005, the record temp was 117-degrees in Las Vegas.  The hottest temperature ever to hit North America was back in 1922 when Death Valley National Park reached 134-degrees.

A car slammed into a Las Vegas grocery store early Friday morning.  The incident happened at Von's grocery store at Maryland Parkway and Tropicana just after 5 a.m.  According to Metro police, one customer suffered minor injuries.  The driver and passenger in the vehicle fled the scene.  The accident remains under investigation.

The price at the pump in Las Vegas fell five-cents in the last week to an average around two-dollars-63-cents a gallon.  Triple-A says Arizona and California are also witnessing lower gas prices.  Tourism experts hope the drop at the pump will entice visitors to visit southern Nevada.  The national average has also fallen to two-58, which is a decrease of a nickel from last week.  Triple-A expects prices to keep trending downward.

The CityCenter is hoping to fill numerous food and beverage positions during a career fair Thursday.  They are hiring for an assistant executive steward, baker, banquet manager, food server, cook and kitchen manager.  The fair will be held this Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Career Center off Interstate-15 and Spring Mountain.  Those interested should complete an online application first at www.CityCenterCareers.com, then make an appointment by calling 702-590-2489.

Even though he had a designated driver, an allegedly drunk man will be spending time in jail.  The man was arrested for allegedly getting drunk and then having his 11-year-old son drive home.  Police pulled the two over near Boulder Highway and Twain on Thursday night.  The father is facing charges of child endangerment.  Reports show the child's mother came and picked him up after the incident.  Police have yet to determine where the man and his son were at before the incident.

Drivers traveling on Vegas' west side could experience some delays.  Construction on the Tenaya Way Overpass will leave parts of the Summerlin Parkway interchange with the U.S. 95 temporarily closed.  The first set of closures will be from 11:00 p.m. today until 5:00 a.m. on July 12th and will close Summerlin Parkway westbound roadways from U.S. 95 to Buffalo Drive.  Work on the seven-point-nine-million-dollar project is expected to be completed by October.

Those looking to experience the movies in a new way will be excited for next week.  On Thursday the Galaxy at the Cannery gave movie goers a preview of  D-box seating.  The seats are programmed to allow viewers to experience vibrations set to correspond with what's happening on the big screen.  The theater will have its first open to the public movie showing with D-box seating on July 15th.

Spanish actress Charo is bringing her bubbly personality to the stage tonight as she kicks off her new Las Vegas show.  "Entertainment Tonight" reported last month that the 58-year-old TV personality has been gearing up for her new show titled "Charo in Concert: A Musical Sensation" at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.  The show is expected to be full of Charo's music, dancing and comedy.  The entertainer says of being back in Vegas, quote, "This is one of the places where I started, where I have many friends and have called home through the years."  She goes on to call her show a "real Las Vegas experience."  Charo has been headlining Las Vegas shows since 1971.

Las Vegas police are looking for a man they are considering a "person of interest" in the death of another man found lying in the street of Tuesday. Twenty-four-year-old Wyatt King was gunned down on a northwest Las Vegas street earlier this week. Metro police are wanting to talk with 23-year-old Dwayne Ray Jones in connection with the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Metro's Homicide Section or Crime Stoppers.

The man suspected of abusing two toddlers, appeared in court briefly this morning. Jonathan Weaver is facing two counts of child abuse and neglect, kidnapping and attempted murder for allegedly tying up two children and leaving them in a garage. The one and two-year-old boys were discovered by emergency crews with ropes around their necks and gags in their mouths. Today, Weaver was assigned a public defender and given two more court dates, one on Tuesday were he will find out if he will get bail. He has a preliminary hearing on June 26th.

A 12-year-old boy from Sandy Valley is in critical condition following a collision with a truck. Metro police say the boy was struck while riding his bike in the small town outside of Vegas. The driver of the vehicle claims the youngster swerved in front of her. Police are continuing their investigation.

A former Las Vegas city planner has pled guilty to manslaughter charges. Fifty-five-year-old Michael Chambliss had been accused of stabbing another man in the back room of a convenience store in 2005. According to investigators, the men had been arguing over a woman. Chambliss is now facing up to 20-years in prison.

For the second straight day, more than half of the student body at Marion Elementary School has called out sick. The Clark County School has totalled more than one-thousand absences this week. School officials say that can't confirm how many kids are actually sick, as parents are keeping their children at home as a precaution. The school has been cleaned several times this week and is said to be safe for students.

One-point-five-billion-dollars in stimulus money is set to come into Nevada. The state has received over 255-million-dollars in aid which has been directed to education and social programs such as increasing unemployment insurance benefits. On Friday Nevada's most recent 26-million installment of stimulus money was released by the Labor Department for jobless t9oinsurance benefits. Despite complaints of slow money disbursement, Governor Jim Gibbons office has stated he approves of the way money is being handled and believes the money must be moved to projects in an orderly way to ensure proper spending. Rural Nevada is set to receive funds for proposed water projects and Clark and Washoe County are on the priority list for the second round of project approvals.

A three month amnesty for work done without proper permits is starting in Clark County. Officials are using the amnesty to grant homeowners a chance to report work done without proper permits and avoid penalties and increased fees. County officials report unapproved work typically costs homeowners when they sell their homes because of fines which can be imposed by county inspectors for unsanctioned projects. The amnesty is set to last until August 31st of this year.

A UNLV professor is targeting what he believes are water wasting dipper wells. Professor Martin Dean Dupalo and his student Nathan Sipe have been focusing their efforts for three months to determine the waste of dipper wells. They believe the kitchen convenience used in coffee and ice cream shops to rinse scoopers and utensils by running them through a continuos stream of cold water causes a total of 106-point-four-million gallons of water waste a year. The amount of water waste comes to the average used by 653 homes. Dupalo and Sipe hope to get themselves on the Southern Nevada Health District agenda to have their findings reviewed. Ultimately Dupalo states he wants to see dipper wells banned.

Hundreds showed their support for an injured Metro Police officer on Sunday. A benefit ride staged by other metro officers in support of Dave Rooney drew around six-hundred registered supporters. Rooney is struggling through an illness caused by a bacterial infection which left him paralyzed and in intensive care for over a month. His fellow officers hope the proceeds from the benefit will help to pay Rooney's medical bills as he works to get better and get back to being a traffic officer with metro.

Las Vegas police have arrested a woman accused of hitting her grandmother. Witnesses say the saw 32-year-old Jessica Olaneta hit her grandma while in the kitchen of her home. Olaneta has been taken into custody and her grandmother should be ok, although she did suffer some swelling and a couple of gashes over her left eye.

Las Vegas police are looking into a crash Thursday afternoon at a bus stop on Boulder Highway and Lamb. Officials say a 19-year-old driver lost control of his car and drove into oncoming traffic before slamming into the bus stop and hitting a bus. A 45-year-old woman who was getting off the bus was hurt by flying debris, but is expected to be just fine. Vegas police say the driver will most likely be charged with driving under the influence. A lion at the Las Vegas Zoo has died following emergency surgery. On Thursday night, someone threw a foam football into the cage and Midas the lion ate it. Officials called a veterinarian to try to save the beast, but at no avail. Zookeepers are devastated, but are just as sick about the way he died. According to zoo officials, the Catholic Charities Thrift Store, which is next door, randomly throws toys and trash over their fence that bumps up against the lion exhibit.

With anywhere from 700 to 14-hundred jobs available this fall, the CityCenter and the Culinary Training Academy have teamed up to recruit students for free training as CityCenter guest room attendants. The Department of Education has announced eagerly awaited stimulus money is on its way to Nevada. Nevada will be able to present nearly all of its more than 300 formal concerns about the planned nuclear waste disposal site at Yucca Mountain. Participation in the licensing hearings has also been granted to California, as well as Clark County and rural counties near the site. The hearings could begin in 2010 and last for three to four years. They'll involve the Department of Energy's application to build a repository for tons of highly radioactive material 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas. Clark County will present arguments that the DOE has not considered the public safety impact on Las Vegas. Seven additional cases of swine flu have been reported by the Southern Nevada Health District, bringing to nine the number of confirmed cases in Clark County and 16 statewide. However, public health officials say all the people involved have recovered. Health district spokeswoman Stephanie Bethel says each case involving children was mild and the CDC indicated there was no need to close schools. Clark County School District spokesman Michael Rodriguez tells the "Las Vegas Review-Journal" that information letters will be sent today to parents at the affected schools. The remainder will be used in the next fiscal year. The attorney representing the driver in last week's traffic accident that killed Metro Police officer James Manor says his client saw no emergency lights and heard no sirens before turning in front of the patrol car. A statement from Sean Sullivan says Calvin Darling saw three oncoming vehicles but they were a "sufficient distance away which led him to believe he could safely cross Flamingo." Witnesses at the scene have given a similar account of the accident. Sheriff Doug Gillespie has said the patrol cars had been going with the emergency lights flashing and sirens on. Residents of the Las Vegas Valley could experience a hazy summer. Air quality officials in Clark County say that warm weather conditions and levels of pollutants may result in a build-up of ground level ozone. The ozone advisory will be in effect through September. Officials say that unhealthy levels of ozone are not currently occurring. They'll keep a close eye on air conditions and will post any alerts on the Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management website. At ground level, ozone is a big contributor to urban smog which produces a brown cloud hanging over the valley.

UMC warns patients of a possible leak of personal information. Vegas police are continuing to look for a shooting suspect. A free health and wellness clinic is going on today. And Henderson plans a star-spangled evening for the 4th or July. UMC is sending letters to patients warning them of a possible personal information leak. They say that a disk containing patient data disappeared during a shipment sent through UPS in early April. Officials advise if you receive a letter, you should sign up for credit monitoring. UMC directed the Hospitalist Medicine Phasycians of Clark County to pay for one year's worth of the service for the 68 patients affected.

Vegas police are continuing to look for a gunman who shot two people sitting on their front porch. One of the victims was hit in the stomach and the other in the hip. Both are recovering from their injuries. Investigators are looking into the incident, but at this point they have no suspects. Any photos las vegas would help.

This morning at the Red Rock Casino and Resort, numerous health practitioners, state agencies and vendors will be offering their services at a free health and wellness clinic. Some of the free services include spinal screenings, glucose testing, blood pressure screenings and a vision check. The clinic will be held in the Charleston Ballroom from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Guide las vegas to a new health.

Las Vegas weekly states that Henderson will be the place to be this 4th of July. The city will be holding a variety of family-friendly events, including three stages of live music, plus a variety of food and beverages. The kids will be entertained by an assortment of activities including a rock wall, dunk tank, bounce house and more. The night will end with a spectacular fireworks display from atop City Hall.
