The Spectacle of the Las Vegas Show

Shows in Las Vegas are much more than just shows. They are spectacles and events of the proportion seen nowhere else in America except perhaps New York City. Most people go to Las Vegas to gamble and have fun. Others go there just for the shows.

When you first arrive in Las Vegas you will probably walk through the airport and get on a cab or bus. You will notice with every step all the signs and advertisements showcasing the many different Las Vegas show. Clearly, shows are big in Vegas and there is something for everyone.



All Variety of Shows

When you go to Las Vegas, there is truly something for everyone. This includes the wide variety of shows that can be found up and down the strip and even off it. There are about a dozen major shows and then there are dozens more shows that are less expensive and at the lesser known hotels.

Singing acts have always been popular from the Rat Pack in the 60's, to Elvis and Wayne Newton later on. Right now the biggest singing act in Vegas is perhaps Barry Manilow who plays throughout the year at the Hilton. Barry Manilow in Las Vegas is a show that anyone over 30 will love. After that, the biggest name is perhaps Cher who plays on and off throughout the year as well.

Magician acts have always been popular in Vegas and the biggest was Siegfried and Roy who played at the Mirage for years. The show ended tragically when Roy was injured on stage by one of the tigers. Other Las Vegas magicians are Criss Angel and Penn & Teller who currently have shows at two different hotels.

Other Las Vegas Shows

Las Vegas has shows of all genres for all tastes. Usually, the shows that have the big stars are the most expensive and can run you well over $100 per seat. These include the very popular Cirque du Soleil shows which are different than anything else you will ever see. They are plays with intense acrobatics and they have about 5 different ones now spread between different Las Vegas hotels.

If you want to spend less, you can find a show off the strip that showcases a B list star or an up and coming act. There are lots of variety shows you can find that will cost you in the neighborhood of $40 to $70. Many of these hotels you may never have heard of and they have a show primarily to help put them on the map. If you are a hotel in Las Vegas, you need a show to elevate your status.
