Faster and more accurate than alternatives

Laser barcode scanners scan across a bar code label using a special beam of light generated by the lazer. Barcode labels can be on virtually any object. In many cases the scanner itself does not move. The object with the barcode label is held in front of the scanning device, or drawn across the beam.

So unlike with some other types of barcode readers, with a laser barcode scanner there is no need for direct contact with the bar code label. Scanning can be automatic in the sense that the scanning action is initiated when an object is held in front of it. For example, think of a grocery check out. You "swipe" the object across the laser beam and the scanning is automatically initated.

This kind of laser barcode scanning system is popular in many different settings. For example in manufacturing or warehouse settings that employ conveyor systems. Since scanning is done rapidly, laser scanners can be embedded right into conveyor systems. As objects pass quickly by they are scanned and recorded.

As well, in retail stores the check out person rapidly moves objects over the scanner to activate the scanning action. Laser barcode scanning systems are fast enough to keep up with a clerk who takes objects from one side of the scanner and quickly slides them to the other side. This type of system is much faster and much more accurate than any of the popular alternatives currently available.

Regardless of which scanning system is best for your business right now, be sure to purchase stock control software that lets you implement other scanning technologies as the need arises.

This laser barcode scanner can read barcode labels from as far away as 45'.
