If you are looking for a hair treatment, you may very well have stumbled upon the laser hair comb hair treatment. Seeing that it is a very well talked about method for treating hair loss, I decided to see if it really works.

The specific product that we are going to be taking a look at is the HairMax Laser Hair Comb, which is the only brand cleared by the FDA. According the manufacturer: “With more than 90% of all LaserComb users achieving satisfaction with their results, this device is a safe, simple way to a fuller head of thick, luxurious-looking hair.”

Does the laser hair comb work?

But is the laser hair comb really as good as it sounds? An LA Times article quoted Dr. Marc Avram who said that "In 20% of the subjects, it seemed to maybe have an effect within 6 months use”. Doesn’t sound like confident endorsement, does it? The experts at baldingblog.com concluded that even the photos off of HairMax’s official website showed no signs of hair improvement. When you take into account the high cost of the laser comb ($375.00 at Amazon.com) and the fact that it is not proven to work like Propecia and Rogaine are, in my opinion it is wise to take a pass on this product and spend your money on the proven aforementioned hair loss treatments.

The Amazon laser hair comb reviews for this product are unsurprisingly not that great. Users complained that it flat out didn’t work, was too costly, and too time consuming. One hair max laser comb review made the inevitable conclusion that you never even know if it’s doing its job. Because the studies done so far on it are inconclusive and any hair re-growth (even from proven products such as Propecia and Rogaine) will be minimal, it is impossible to measure the gains from this product by yourself.

If you look for information about this product, watch out for sites, which only say good things about it. Most likely, they have a vested interest in selling this HairMax laser hair comb rather than providing you honest information. Or maybe they know no better than to read the ad copy on HairMax’s site. Well, I have no vested interest and here’s the bottom line: Don’t buy it. Although it may prove to be economical because it is a one time investment, unlike Propecia and Rogaine, which you have to put on over and over again, it is simply not a proven product. As such, it is not worth buying the laser comb for hair growth.

Extra note: Keep in mind that the HairMax is “proven” to work for men. As such, there is no laser hair comb for women.
