Are you considering getting laser surgery for stretch marks? Stretch marks can be a real pain, so much so that they will drive you to the point of considering radical measures to get rid of them. Sure there are creams and lotions out there to use, however these don’t always work as well as they’re advertised and thus this leaves us with only surgical options.

It is still advised that you first look around for less invasive methods of removing stretch marks though. Try out as many different solutions as you can that are all natural before even considering going in for surgery.

Now if you’re looking to get laser surgery for stretch marks, here is what you’re basically looking at. You will have an “excimer laser” directed at your stretch marks and this high intensity laser will work to remove some layers of your skin around the stretch marks.

The laser Is an ultraviolet light laser which works by disrupting the molecular bonds inside of the skin tissue, this causes the damaged tissue to disintegrate in a process known as “ablation”. Once this happens, the treated area will then be able to heal anew, at which point new healthy layers of skin will grow in it’s place. Once the healing is done, the stretch marks should be greatly improved in appearance.

It’s important to realize there are some side effects to this surgery. Right after this laser surgery for stretch marks, you’ll find that your skin is very sensitive to the touch and it may even begin to blister and show other symptoms of burning. These symptoms are usually temporary though and it should heal within a week, although sometimes it may take a bit longer.

Whether or not this proves to be a success will depend on a few things. For one, it will depend on the age of the stretch marks being treated. Again, getting laser surgery for stretch marks should be a last resort as there are plenty of creams and lotions out there that you can try instead. If you’ve tried the vast majority of those without success, only then should you consider laser surgery.
