Laser Hair Removal Tips and Information

Laser hair removal is gaining in popularity mainly because of its effectiveness. If you have unsightly hair, or you just want to get rid of hair on a certain area of the body, you'll want to learn more about laser hair removal.

So, what is this procedure (I hear you ask)? Well, put simply, laser hair removal basically renders the hair follical useless by blasting it with laser heat. A useless, or dormant, hair follicle doesn't grow. Wa-la... the hair is gone and you won't need to shave that area anymore.

Keep in mind that this procedure is done one hair at a time and is why the procedure is so expensive. It could takes hours to do a small patch on the body. This of course also depends on the speed of the practitioner.

In addition, there is a happy medium that needs to be found in order to not cause damage. Basically, the laser has to heat the follicle enough to render it useless, but not too much to damage the skin around it.

What's The Cost?

This is where it gets a little scary. You'll really need to ask yourself how bad you want to get rid of the hair in any given area. Here is a break down of estimated costs for certain areas of the body. Keep in mind that these are only estimates. Actual costs will depend on where you live and your own unique situation.

  • Bikini $435
  • Back Hair $750
  • Lower Legs $750
  • Upper Legs $750
  • Arms $500
  • Chest $550
  • Under Arms $350
  • Face & Neck $80

Not cheap!

I know what your next question is. Is it really permanent? The answer... yes and no. It may require several visits to achieve complete removal. This is because some of our hour naturally goes dormant. This means that during a given laser hair removal session hairs that we dorman (beneath the skin) subsequently grow out.

In some cases, all the hair may grow back, especially light colored hair such as blond or red.

I would recommend that this procedure be used sparingly and only on serious cases. For example, women with facial can will this a godsend. On the other hand, if you have shaved head and are tired of shaving it everyday, I don't think this process is for you.
