Pretty Cakes and Pies Every Time!

The Lattice Dough Round Press is a baker’s delight. It provides a quick and easy way to make your pastry toppings (pies and cakes) look like the work of Michelangelo, with nowhere near the effort he and his poor back poured into that Roman ceiling so long ago. The Lattice Dough Round Press consists of a 2-piece plastic grid, which pierces the dough, forming a lattice pattern. Once the shape is created, simply invert the press and put it on top of the pie. (Resist the urge to place it elsewhere.)

To compare the process required by Lattice Dough Round Press with painting by numbers would not be that far off base, for few things in life could be easier than using this reasonably priced (about $20 dollars) culinary tool. Made in France where pastries are a way of life (even though the French don’t ever seem to gain any weight, which is a particular bone I have to pick with them), the Lattice Dough Round Press comes with easy step-by-step instructions that guarantees perfect pastry toppings every time.

The Lattice Dough Round Press does require the one meager effort of rolling out the dough with a rolling pin. Other than that, using this press is a piece of cake (forgive pun). Simply place the smaller grid (the one with handles) on top of the larger grid (the one with the sharp edges). Roll out the dough and place the sheet of dough on top of both of the grids. Roll again, pressing firmly enough to pierce the dough. Lift the upper grid together with the perforated dough off the lower grid and…voila!

Some would say, “hooray,” while other might exclaim, “let them eat cake!” Oh well, that’s the way the world goes, with or without the Lattice Dough Round Press!
