Hand Reflexology

I tend to be a spiritual person, getting in tuned with the mind and body, you know. I realize too that mostly women suffer stress through their upper neck to mid back. We get all knotted up right there in those spots so a simple way to possibly heal yourself (has actually worked for me with my shoulder) is reflexology, considerably through the hands. Keep reading.

Hand Reflexology is equally as effective as foot reflexology, however in the UK, it is not as well known.

There are reflex points on the hands that correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body and by using the unique thumb and finger techniques on these reflexes, the body responds by relaxing, rebalancing and improving blood circulation.

The hands are not as sensitive as the feet and the reflex points are much deeper, however a hand reflexology treatment can be extremely beneficial.

Hand reflexology can be used at the start or end of a traditional foot reflexology treatment, or as a stand-alone treatment in its own right. It is particularly useful to use when a foot is injured or where a client is unable to elevate their leg. It may also be used for self-help and is often demonstrated by the practitioner to enable the client to use reflexology techniques in-between appointments.

Not all training schools teach hand reflexology, however the International Institute of Reflexology is committed to ensuring that all of its graduates are professional in both foot and hand reflexology techniques, using the Original Ingham Method®.

You are correct in your post. Hand reflexology can be very effective. And, many reflexology programs do not teach it or pass over it very quickly.

Some would argue that reflexology applied to the hand does not provide the same level of relaxation that foot reflexology does. However, reflexology applied to either the hand or the foot can be contribute to holistic healing. The non-invasive nature of reflexology makes it the perfect complement to traditional medical interventions.
