Le Creuset Cookware vs Cuisinart
74Does One Get What One Pays For?
As someone who has owned and operated both Cuisinart and Le Creuset cookware for at least a decade, I think I am a fair judge of character (and pots). Le Creuset is the world’s leading manufacturer of enameled cast-iron cookware, and since 1925 French craftsmen have been working at perfecting the hand-finished art of the Le Creuset line. Both brands work well and neither are cheap, but what’s the real deal on the Le Creuset line of cookware? Read on, dear chefs and potential chefs, but only if you dare.Le Creuset cookware will adorn any kitchen. The pots are beautiful to look at and come in many sizes and colors, including lemon yellow, flame, green, red, black, blue, saffron and white. Le Creuset pots are also dishwasher-safe and couldn’t be easier to clean. They retain heat so well that there is no need to cook on a high flame, which can be economical if one owns an electric stove. That being said because we want to be proactive here and consider the feelings of all pots concerned, Le Creuset cookware is also very expensive and very heavy to handle. It does come with a fine warranty as does the Cuisinart line of pots, but the Creuset pots are more easily damaged than their competitors.I have had two Creuset pots and three Cuisinart pots for about ten years and I use all of them interchangeably all the time (although I do my best to avoid rivalry between the pots by not telling the one when I am using the other). The Dutch Oven is perfect for braising chicken, pork or beef, which take hours to make and fill the house with such incredible aromas. Le Creuset pots are very versatile and can be used for making casseroles, stews, roasting meats, soups, rice dishes and even for baking. It is not unusual to pay over $200 for a Le Creuset Dutch oven. The Cuisinart line of pots are equally expensive, and both will give you years of fine performance. The choice can only be yours.Le Creuset anyone?
