Leaks in affiliate Marketing

I don't promote products that have leaks or I negotiate

Most new affiliate marketers really dont realize what leaks are and how to avoid them. The .50 definition of a leak in affiliate marketing is if there is any action that the surfer can perform that would benefit the site owner and would not benefit you.

That is why I wont promote a clickbank product that has an opt in form on the site. If the surfer does not make the purchase then and the site operator has captured the lead you have zero net benefit for your efforts. That is a huge leak!

Also I will not promote a product that displays adsense on their product sales page. Many online merchants have realized that does not build a loyal affiliate base and have stopped doing it but it is still out there.

One of my favorite affiliate products has a leak and I almost stopped promoting it as a result. However, I was given an enhanced payout for my efforts. So I now receive a $50 payout on a $9.00 sale versus $32.00. I was able to arrange this because I generate over 10 sales a day, however if it were not for the enhanced payout I was able to negotiate I would have changed products. This leak was having a toll free number on the site that the affiliate did not get paid for if the surfer completed the sale on the phone. If my sales slow down I will change products in a heartbeat. For now I am happy with $500 a day.

If you discover leaks in products you promote either change products or start negotiating.
