Leaning to the Left

A few times a week, okay month, I venture out to walk with my husband. Each time I noticed that I inevitably end up walking into him. He was gracious (not) to inform me that I appear to have a problem walking a straight line. Well let's see, how many MS patients walk a straight line? So I decided to test his theory. I took a piece of chalk and made a straight line down the side walk. After that, I walked along the line to see if I would cross it at any point during my walk. Well, you bet your bottom I crossed that line more times than I can count and to the left of course. Strange that I was not ready to hear it from him that my MS was showing some physical signs.

Often times people tell us things we don't want to hear. I am making a pack with myself to take each critique as a lesson for understanding self. While I know the me that I think I am, there is also the me that others know me to be. The greatest thing about me is that she is constantly evolving. We all are constantly evolving even when we think we are not. Change is a good thing if we embrace it for the benefits it provides. I could have been testy with himĀ over his comment only to discover in time that his perspective was correct and taken much longer to address an issue that could over time make my life miserable without early intervention. How often do we dismiss important information that requires our attention because we don't acknowledge change?

Change is all around us. Every morning we wake up, yesterday becomes a memory. The sun rises and sets without us acknowledging that time is passing, change has come again. Some of life's best teachings require some tough decisions in order for us to reap valuable lessons that endure the test of time.I think back to when my mother gave me choices which was not often on how to handle boys. As a teenage girl, I loved almost every cute boy in my school. But being that I had raging hormones like every other kid, I was surprised that she allowed me to make certain choices. But it was her way of allowing me to learn that my choices can and will determine my future. Not only did she open the door for life to encourage my ability to make decisions, she gave me insight into decisions that are permanent and ones that are changeable. We often assume that change means something wasn't right the first time. How so not true. As we live life, our experiences help to determine decisions which can be quite different based on what each of us experiences. Changing our mind on an issue is not a bad thing. It shows growth. It displays maturity. It brings harmony to the person we think we are and the person we are striving to become.

Well my leaning to the left is not going to change, my acceptance to change will. Become open to others opinions and critque as it is the only way that you can better define that person that you want to become.
