You can always tell a Leap Frog educational electronic product on sight. The ones for younger audiences (below 12) are generally bright green. The Zippity Learning System isn’t really an exception to that rule, and it is something very unique in children’s electronic entertainment.

The Zippity is a video game system designed for children ages three to five. Unlike most video game systems, it does not have a singular box and controllers. It does have an interesting controller that syncs wirelessly with the transmitter box that plugs into the television. Each of these parts of the machine take 4 C batteries, and these 8 C batteries in total are not included.

This controller has some very interesting footpads that are pressure sensitive. Think of it as a Dance Dance Revolution for the younger crowd. That big stick that you see in front of the youngster in the photo is something like a joystick, but it only moves to the left and right.

This big joystick controller is where the child can interface with the games, and a child is also able to use the pads as well. The Zippity comes with eight built in games based on popular Playhouse Disney characters. They have two games for each of the four Playhouse Disney shows, and each of these games have two levels. That is sixteen games in all.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

Mickey Says: A “Simon Says” game to learn numbers and shapes.

Goofy’s Fancy Dancing: A game that uses the pads to learn numbers.

My Friends Tigger and Pooh

Darby’s Honey Pot Jam: A game that allows for learning song sequences.

Super Sleuths on the Case: This game allows kids to use logic.

Handy Manny

Tool Box Beat: A memory game that uses the pads for music notes.

Handy Manny Fix it Up: A game that uses the pads to make words.

Little Einsteins

June’s Twist and Twirl: A dancing game that uses the footpads and helps the memory.

Rocket’s Musical Mission: A game where the big controller is used to steer Rocket to get certain items.

Each of the included games have very good graphics, and all the character voices are genuine. Zippity is also going to have certain games in late 2009 with Disney Princesses: Magical Movement and Learning, Cars: Driven to Learn, and some learning games based on Disney’s soon-to-be released The Princess and the Frog.

You should be able to get the Zippity at the Leap Frog Website for about $79.99. Additional games are available for about $24.99 each.
