LeapFrog Didj Review

Learn while you play with the LeapFrog DIDJ.

The DIDJ Custom Gaming System gives kids all the the fun of a Nintendo DS with the ability to insert spelling words from school or have them concentrate on math work they need help with. It a win - win situation for both kids and parents.

Buying the LeapFrog DIDJ was a great investment, the kids absoultely love it. In fact I was soo happy to hear my 9 year old say that he likes it better than his DS.

Here is my Leapfrog Didj Review.

The LeapFrog DIDJ helps your child learn skills like spelling and math. It is a custom gaming system that parents will love to see their children spending time with, whether it be on a road trip or for everyday household use. Games can be customized using your computer and the LEAPFROG Connect application, so your kids can learn what they need to for school such as their spelling words. The LeapFrog DIDJ is great for kids between the ages of six and 12.

DIDJ is Personal and Educational

First you need to install four AA batteries in the DIDJ and set up the system. A product guide takes you step by step through the necessary set-up tasks. Basically you install the LEAPFROG Connect application onto a computer and transfer JetPack Heroes, the included game, onto the handheld LeapFrog DIDJ using the provided cable. Now, before you end this computer task, let your kids create their own custom characters, called avatars, using the Didjerator. My kids loved creating their own avatar. This is extremely fun for them and quite frankly I enjoyed it too. In fact this is a game in itself. It is very similar to the Wii only better. Your kids can make all sorts of avatars such as a robot with vampire fangs, the Wii is limited to people, or alter the hair and clothing to make it look like themselves. Again, kids absolutely love this. The avatars can then be downloaded to the handset to be used in the games.

Didj has Custom Learning and is Fun to Play

JetPack Heroes, stars your favorite character or your created avatar in a fight with the villain Gooracha. Kids capture energy buddies and then must use use math skills to free them so that they can provide light and life for the entire planet. They control the hero's jet pack to navigate the hero's gun to stop enemies all the while answering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems in between the game sequence. The best part is that you earn "Bitz" while playing. These Bitz can be uploaded to your computer and traded for upgrades such as a new spaceship, cool backgrounds and music. My kids love personallizing their Didj. Other games develop skills like vocabulary and spelling.

Parents Love the Interactive Education Too

As I mentioned before our family had a great time creating our own characters for the DIDJ worlds. Hooking the DIDJ up to the computer was easy but what is great about the Leapster Didj is that it was designed with kids in mind like all Leapster products. On the computer it is very easy for children, and adults, to navigate with easy point and click menus. The DIDJ handheld takes a child who has never played with a handheld before less then one minute to learn at least that was the case with my youngest who is only five. Here is another excellent LeapFrog DIDJ review.

The best feature for parents is the interactive learning path. Parents can use game information uploaded from the LeapFrog DIDJ to see their children's progress with math, spelling or vocabulary. This can pinpoint areas where they need further study or should I say extra play time. If your kids have a test coming up you can actually load math or spelling words they are currently studying in to the DiDJ so they can study for their test while playing. This is what makes the DIDJ custom gaming system unique.

Recommendation:

Buy the LeapFrog DIDJ Now (before it sells out).
