So you want a cheap airline ticket. Not a problem. You just have to focus on two issues: planning and flexibility. This combination can save you a lot of money.

Flexibility

You can save a lot of money by being flexible. Instead of going to a place in the high season, you can often wait a few months for the low season and get tickets for a much lower price. This way you can also save money on food, accommodation, sightseeing etc.

In is also not unimportant which day of the week you travel. If you are going to a typical business destination (like Brussels), where all business people goes to on the weekdays, it is cheaper to travel in the weekend. And if you are visiting a holiday destination, you can save a lot of money by traveling there on a weekday.

Some place are notorious expensive to fly to; no matter which day or month you choose. If that is the case, you can ask yourself, if you can find the same attractions somewhere else.

Planning

Sometime you can find last minute offers on airline tickets. But in most cases it is best to plan ahead. An investigation has shown that the best time to book your ticket is four weeks ahead. This gives to lowest price with the highest flexibility.

The easiest way to find cheap air tickets is on the Internet. Enter your preferred dates and location in one of the many effective airline ticket search engines. Do also try to vary the dates a little (e.g. from weekdays to the weekends) to find the lowest price.

When you have found a good price, try to do a search with the same location and dates in another search ticket engine. That might give you an even better price. A search on the website of the airline company might also save you some money.

So remember when looking for cheap airline tickets to be flexible. Go on the best day and try to travel in the low season instead of the high season. And stay away from the most expensive locations.

And remember to plan well ahead using the Internet's many ticket search engines.
