I am on a mission. I am going to learn Portuguese. I searched the internet and found a various software programs that I could use in my quest to learn Portuguese

You may ask for the reason as to my new goal? Well it is quite simple.

I am honoured to have just become a grandmother for the fourth time of a grandson (Neto)
his name is Christian. He was born on the 1st of the 11th, 2009. His father is Portuguese and I would love to be able to communicate with my new grandson in English and in Portuguese.

That is how my mission began. I sound like a first year school child trying to say the words and remembering them at the same time. I now know the basis such as good morning, good evening, thank you. It is really not that hard. The first hurdle is getting down and doing it.

I must admit that I have such a long way to go but I have taken the first step.

I hope the information that I am going to share with you will help you on your way to learning Portuguese as well, or any other language that you might be thinking of learning. It is so empowering once you start and you can remember the first few words.

You have a wide selection of flip card software for almost any language that you are interested in learning. The basics language software is free. Just enough to get you going.

You can choose Portuguese, Spanish, Afrikaans (Spoken in South Africa), English, German just to name a few. Go ahead, download the free language software and do what you always wanted to, learn a new language.

If you need to translate a language you could try going to Babylon.com.  

You might also look at getting a good quality English to Portuguese Dictionary.  It does help especially when you are with people that are speaking portuguese and you want to see the translation.

mother is mãe
father is pai

My favourite word is: grandson is neto

Thank you is Obrigado
Good evening is Boa tarde
Good Morning is Bom dia
Good Bye is Adeus
Please is Por Favor

What you will love about this software is that they have an icon that you can click for the words to be said slowly.   That really helped me out a lot.
