Learn Russian

I only speak, write and read one language and that language is English. I've heard people say that English is the hardest language to learn. I can't tell you if that is true or not because English is the language I have been used to since I was born.

I am Canadian, however, I have never and will never learn French. I took a French course while in high school and I did not like it at all. I could not grasp the French language. French is our second national language. I recognize a few words in French, like un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix. That is, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten for anyone that didn't know. That is very basic French. I have never really needed to use the French language. I visited Quebec a few times in my life, our French province, but I got away with my English language.

Are there any languages I would like to learn? I would love to learn how to speak Spanish and I would like to learn Russian, too. Spanish is a good language to learn if you are going to be traveling throughout the United States or Mexico. There is a Spanish language course online I could take and probably a Russian online course too.

The reason I would like to learn Russian is because I have always been fascinated by Russia. I have always wanted to travel to Russia to the St. Petersburg Square. That, for me, would the trip of a lifetime.

The only thing hard about the English language is the inconsistencies. The vocabulary is very small compared to other languages like Russian for example. The English language is also easier than most languages because English does not deal with gender. People that say that English is the hardest language to learn, most likely have only learned one additional language- English. So they really can't say for sure.

Martin Eshleman, thank you for your comment. Other languages seem very interesting to me. I have only learned one language, English and it is a language that is very hard to learn.
