Learn a little of the language before traveling to another country
61Learn the language when you travel
I have found over the years that when I travel outside of the country learning a little bit of the language of that country truly enhances the travel experience.
Talk to most anyone that has traveled to Paris and most will say, it is amazing the difference of how you are treated when you at least make an attempt to speak the language.
Well, for years I have been thinking about learning Spanish since I am in Mexico 4 to 5 times a year conducting hotel inspections. The reason why I have not is because everyone who is in the tourism business and deals with the public speaks fairly good English. But I have also found if I try and speak some of the basics, the attitude is much better.
Well, I found a company that we have partnered with that offers some free Spanish lessons for tourists and the following link will get you to some of those lessons.

Since we have many clients that travel with their children, I thought this would be fun and educational for the kids to learn a little bit before they travel. I suspect they will pick it up easier than the adults.
I have even started speaking Spanish at my favorite local Mexican restaurant and they are also getting a kick out of it and I think I get better service.
So give it a try and let me know if it helped make your travels more enjoyable.
