If you want to learn basic guitar chords, make sure that you comprehend what's a chord and what it does.

A air is created by a set of tones. On a guitar this set of tones is called chord. The chords of a guitar can be made up of different notes that are played one string after another whether doing it on a plucking or strumming method. Chords are played with two or three notes, sometimes more. Some are played with only one note.   

Minor and Major are the two kinds of chords. And the basic essential chords herewith are the C,A,G,E,D or CAGED. If you are a novice on playing the guitar, mastering the CAGED pattern have got to be the fisrt thing you must do.  Many players who learned these key chords confessed that it helped for easy manipulation of the other harder chords.


Understanding a chord chart
   
Knowing how to read a chord diagram is necessary when starting to learn basic guitar chords. 
   
A chord graph is an illustration describing the way to play a chord. A good  chord diagram must indicate clearly which chord will be used.


The CAGED pattern
   
Imagine yourself looking at a guitar. Now focus on the fret board. You’ll notice that a whole fret board is composed of 6 strings attached to it. Well, not basically “attached” but on top of it. These strings are the ones making it possible to produce the chords and air. If you’re going to focus on fingering first, might as well remember the different chords created in every fret. There are five fundamental and simple chords that will enhance you to learn other more difficult chords.


Sore fingers
   
Oftentimes a lot of apprentices complain how painful their fingers are once finishing 1 session with their guitar, it’s a standard result. You should be surprised if you’re not hurt even a bit, this means that you’re not playing it right. The good way to carry out fingering is pressing your fingertips hard enough on the strings. When you notice that there is a buzzing sound or the echo is not going the way it must sound, try to press harder on the strings.

   
6 tips on how to play chords
   
1) Cut those long fingernails. They will make it tough for you to press the strings correctly.

2) Be sure to form an arch with your fingers. If not, they will touch or even mute some strings. At principal the position will appear bizarre and uneasy but you will quickly get used to it.

3) Be aware that only your fingertips must be in contact with the strings.

4) Always pressing the notes altogether.

5) Practice. learn each chord pattern.

6) Take your time. If you try to go too fast and do not get it, you will be very annoyed. To start pick easy to play songs.


When you learn basic guitar chords, you will be able to play a lot of songs from just knowing a reasonable amount of chords.
