Learn to write Effectively
66Learning
to write effectively, just like anything else, takes practice. It may seem
daunting at first if you are new or out of practice, but with diligence
and patience you can be a superb writer in no time. I'm gonna show you some simple, but very effective tips
to help you improve your writing skills so that you or anyone will enjoy what you have to say! I discovered this method through my own means by reading and studying the best articles. Below is a step by step guide on how I improved my writing and how you can too.
Signing up to Hubpages is a definite step in the right direction to learn
to write effectively. Once signed up, you
should look up the best Hubbers, those with high ratings, and find the
articles in which the author's writing style appeals most to you. Read
them and re-read them to get a feel for how they write.
You are now one step closer to learn
to write effectively. Next, pick a topic you want to write about. At this point, there
are two options. The first is to use the articles that you picked out
and try to write your article in the same manner. I will explain how
to do this later on. This approach can be a bit difficult since the
material may be different. So, I propose using the second option, which
is to find a preexisting article on the topic you chose and to use the
article's style to write your own.
How do you write the article in the same manner and the same
style? This is best explained through an example. Take for example
the following paragraph:
"Ranking high on search engines can be confusing if your new to website optimization. I'm gonna show you some simple, but very effective tips to help you rank high on any search engine so you can be seen by potential customers quickly! The method I have discovered is based on extensive research from varying articles on search engine optimization. Many authors believe their tricks and tips to be the best. They are all correct! Below is a step by step guide on how to do SEO properly to get top listings in the major search Engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN."
This is the opening paragraph to my article Ranking High on Search Engine Web Crawlers. Lets say, for example, I wanted to write about How to Improve Your Writing. Below, is an example of how to convert the above paragraph to fit my topic.
"Writing can be confusing if you are new to it. I'm gonna show you some simple, but very effective tips to help you improve your writing skills so that you or anyone will enjoy what you have to say! The method I have discovered is based on extensive research from varying articles on improving your writing. Many authors believe their tricks and tips to be the best. They are all correct! Below is a step by step guide on how to write interesting articles."
Very simply, all I have done is kept the structure the same and changed the content. The words that are underlined are the structure and the none underlined words are the content. From this example you should begin to see how to you can effectively improve your writing by copying another authors style. Copying however, is very much frowned upon. So, to avoid directly copying and to create your own style, what you want to do is alter the structure. This can be done by following three steps: changing the words, reordering the sentences and throwing in some of your own sentences.
"Learning to write effectively, just like anything else, takes practice. It may seem daunting at first if you are new or out of practice, but with diligence and patience you can be a superb writer in no time. I'm gonna show you some simple, but very effective tips to help you improve your writing skills so that you or anyone will enjoy what you have to say! I discovered this method through my own means by reading and studying the best articles. Below is a step by step guide on how I improved my writing and how you can to."
Does this look familiar? This is the opening paragraph to this article! By following the three rules mentioned above, word change, sentence reordering and sentence creation, I have effectively created a paragraph that is my own. Even though it started off as another authors paragraph it has become my own because I followed the three rules.
So How did I do this? I will break it down sentence by sentence. The first sentence follows rule number three, sentence creation. Very important, by starting off with your own sentence and not someone elses you are making the paragraph yours. Without it, the paragraph will look and feel like the style of the author you are trying to mimic.
The second sentence, follows rules two and three, word change and sentence creation. Below, sentence two is the altered form of sentence one using rules two and three.
1.Writing can be confusing if you are new to it
2. It may seem daunting at first if you are new or out of practice, but with diligence and patience you can be a superb writer in no time.
Notice how the structures are the same but is worded differently. Writing is replaced with it, confusing is replaced with daunting and at first and out of practice are added onto the structure. These all follow rule number two. Lastly, but with diligence and patience you can be a superb writer in no time is added on to the end of the sentence. This sentence can be a sentence on its own and therefore follows rule number three.
The next sentence is kept the same as it does not need further alterations.
1. I'm gonna show you some simple, but very effective tips to help you improve your writing skills so that you or anyone will enjoy what you have to say!
2. I'm gonna show you some simple, but very effective tips to help you improve your writing skills so that you or anyone will enjoy what you have to say!
The fourth sentence follows rules 1 and 2.
1. The method I have discovered is based on extensive research from varying articles on improving your writing.
2. I discovered this method through my own means by reading and studying the best articles.
Following rule number one, sentence reordering, the method is switched with I have discovered and results in, I discovered this method. Next, following rule number 2, word change, is based on extensive research from varying articles is changed to, by reading and studying the best articles.
Finally, the last sentence is altered through rule number two, word change.
1. Below is a step by step guide on how to write interesting articles.
2. Below is a step by step guide on how I improved my writing and how you can to.
Below is a step by step guide on how is kept the same and to write interesting articles is changed to I improved my writing and how you can to.
I hope you enjoyed this step by step guide on how to learn
to write effectively and to ultimately improve your writing. It may seem a lot to take in at one time, but after you try it just once it will become that much easier. Your new writing style will become second nature after you have written several articles. Plagiarizing is ilegal and the methods shown in this article are for practicing purposes. Remember the three rules and practice, practice, practice!!!

This is certainly a different approach to writing hubs and internet articles. Thank you Rubes. I'm sure that many people will be able to benefit from this information.
Very interesting way to spin articles
I'm not sure this is the best way to be the best writer, but it probably works. And that's kinda sad, I think. Paint-by-numbers writing. Ah, well.
Thank you for the comment, although I disagree with what you have to say. This method does work. Just as in sports you learn to play by watching others, so to in writing you learn to write by reading. There are are many different ways to learn the same concept. Different methods work for different people.
Excellent--however if you are going to teach all of us effective writing should you not begin with "I'm gonna" with "I am going to . . ." hee hee, LOVED IT ! its real and sincere.
sharing the light,
Very funny. lol :) Practice what I mentioned in the article and your ...going to... become an excellent writer. I'm glad you enjoyed the article. Thank you for sharing your insightful ideas.
Very good - it is difficult for many to know how to get started in writing - great advice!
I like your logical, step-by-step explanation. However, I have been writing and teaching writing for many years, and I wouldn't recommend "copying" another person's work so closely. Analyzing structure and copying style is beneficial and can go a long way in improving a person's writing, but I cannot recommend swapping out key words as you do. What are your thoughts? Do you see the difference? I have always admired the truly creative authors who have found new ways to say old things, not old ways to say new things.
