Learn Spanish Free - Send Your Kids To Summer Camp!

Is your Child Falling Behind In Spanish Class? Send Them To Summer Camp!

Even though there is a vast number of resources on the Internet that will enable you to Learn Spanish Free if you are trying to figure out a way that would best for your kids to learn a second language you might want to consider Spanish Summer Camp!

From a great article I was reading in the Maryland Gazette this summer kids in the 1st through the 5th grade had the opportunity to attend a week long Spanish summer camp that was put on by the local school system. The camp itself was a normal summer camp with the usual activities you would expect in such a setting. Plenty of boating, arts and crafts, hikes and other fun summer activities. The differences here than most summer camps where the camp staff spent most of the time speaking to the kids in Spanish. This as you can imagine gives your kids a great opportunity to interact in a real life setting using a second language.

I remember when I was in school taking Spanish lessons. I would learn a certain word or phrase and be able to speak it but I wasn't fluent in Spanish and, I didn't live in an area where Spanish was a widely used language. So even though I was able to Learn Spanish Free at school and, getting a decent amount of knowledge in the language from class I was rarely presented with an opportunity to use my newly learned language in a real life setting.

Part of the teaching techniques used at this Spanish summer camp is they get the kids to move around and "use all they're senses" as it seems to help stimulate they're learning and has proven to be a very effective teaching methods when learning new languages.

"They see it, they hear it, and they act it out," said Jodie Hogan, a coordinator for the camp who has taught Spanish at South River High School for eight years."

It seems that if you teach kids a 2nd language when they're younger rather than older they seem to pick up on it faster and, have a much easier time incorporating a second language into they're daily lives. While not all areas may have a demand for your kids to be bilingual learning a second language is something that could prove to be a very valuable asset that your child could carry with them for the rest of they're lives.

I'm not sure how many of these Spanish summer camps there are but, from the article 10 year old Dana Otis had this to say about her experience:

"I like the fact that instead of learning Spanish in class all day you get to go swimming and stuff."

Swimming vs Classroom? That's without a doubt a NO BRAINER!

Even if you can't find a Spanish summer camp in your area for your child there are many amazing resources on the Internet that will enable you child or even yourself to Learn Spanish Free. I highly recommend Mauricio Evlampieff’s “Rocket Spanish” 6 FREE lessons

You get 6 free lessons in email in both Text and Audio and is an excellent way to get yoru child or yourself on the way to becoming a fluent speaker of the spanish language not to mention you will be able to Learn Spanish Free!

I love the idea of a Spanish Summer Camp! If there isn't one available in your area I highly encourage you to contact your local Spanish programs and see if there might be some interest in getting one together next summer!

Hey, I think your article hits on target. There are fundamental changes in the mind going from child to adult which are in my opinion mostly social, that causes us to have a disadvantage to learning when older. As were younger we're open to questioning and making many mistakes until we get things right. As adults were trying to be perfect the first time around. Which is now how we learn. We learn by making mistakes. When you Learn Spanish Free by Rocket Spanish, you can absolutely see that your going to make mistakes. The best part is, you can do it in your car or anywhere private and not feel so embarassed.

Thanks Sgrnmkt for the great article
