Before continuing my 2-part hub about Dos and Don’ts for Husbands and Wives, I have decided to take a side way and join this week Hubmob: Toys. Even if I cannot consider myself as a child anymore, hearing about toys gives me a tinge of excitement and makes me feel young again. One of the toys that have been a part of my growing years are the Lego blocks. Well who would have not been familiar with this toy that began in the early 30s?

Lego which comes from a Danish word leg godt that means play well started producing these interlocking bricks in 1949, but the ones that were produced in 1958 is the one compatible with the modern Lego blocks. The modern Lego blocks of today were patented in the 1958 design making the pieces interlock with each other no matter how long the gap years may seem.

Over the years Lego group made an effort to find a better material for their product. They always make something new to cater for their market. Different designs were made for different needs for different type of people but still it connect with each other. The Lego blocks for toddlers (Duplo), which is eight times the size in volume, twice the width, height and depth of standard Lego blocks, will fit in the Lego block for the kids and teens (Bionicle) and to other Lego blocks made.

The success of Lego can be measured by the number of blocks it has sold and over the five decades Lego sold more than four hundred billion blocks. Lego is available in different play set themes such as town and city, space, robots, pirates, Vikings, castles, dinosaurs, holiday locations, scuba diving and undersea explorations, the Wild West, the Arctic, airports and miners, Star Wars, Batman, SpongeBob Square pants and many more.

I love Legos! I built my dream house out of 3 huge playsets back in high school in which my little nephew took apart (the Legos belonged to him in the first place). Thanks for sharing this.

Hello Philent nice hub, Lego is a great toy helps kids use their imagination and lots of other skills. Down side is when the Lego bricks are left all over the floor and have to be picked up; a good toy and a interesting hub.

Yes you are right about that 2uesday, but I prefer picking up lego bricks than chopped clays that is why I just sweep those clays away LOL!
