Shih Tzus are a very unique breed of dog that require their owners to learn a number of Shih Tzu information & facts in order to take proper care of them and truly understand what they're all about. The breed is one of the Toy dogs, and it features a long, luxurious double coat.

Among the more interesting Shih Tzu information and facts is the history of the breed. They started in China several hundred years ago when they were popular among the nobles, and highly valued in the palace. The distinctly arrogant look with the head held quite high with both the nose and the tail in the air is quite representative of the royal lineage of the breed.

Since its inception, the breed has come in a large range of sizes. However, that being said, the various large kennel clubs do have many standards to which the breed must still comply. For example, Shih Tzu dogs must be solid and compact little dogs with a substantial appearance and a good weight. On average, the standard says that they should be between 9 and 10 inches tall, but no shorter than 8 inches and no taller than 11 inches. Furthermore, their legs should never be so long that they are out of proportion with the body, nor should they look squat.

The Shih Tzu's head should be round and broad, with a wide spacing between the dog's eyes. The size of the head should be well proportioned with the rest of the body without being either large or small.

Though they do carry themselves like royalty, Shih Tzu dogs should also have a warm and friendly expression that has wide eyes and appears quite trusting.

When it comes to coloring of this breed, Shih Tzu information & facts are extensive as just about every color is acceptable. This is one of the few dog breeds that allows for a virtual rainbow of colors and patterns in the coat.

If you're looking into a house pet, you'll soon discover in Shih Tzu information & facts that they are, by nature, terrific companions as they are happy, outgoing, friendly, and affectionate.
