What Can I Learn To Groom, next?

Having mastered the haircuts for both of these breeds I asked ...

"Ok, Mom, what's next?"

What! A Bichon Frise? No way! I can't possibly do a Bichon. I'll make a deal with you. You take the Bichon and I'll take a poodle. Well that plan did not work out.

Oh, and don't you know the owner of the bichon was very picky. Even her car was a 2005 Mercedes convertible. Her clothes always looked like they cost more than my car.

I was scared! Once again, Mom got me through the hair cut.

Keep in mind, the bichon frise is not groomed the same way as the poodle. The look to achieve with the bichon is an all-over rounded "powder puff" look. The bichon has a coat that does not shed; however, frequent brushing is needed to remove dead hair and to avoid matting. The adult bichon has a double coat, the outer coat being composed of guard hairs and the undercoat composed of soft hair. The guard coat starts to appear at about one year of age and it may take a few months to change completely. During this time extra attention must be given to brushing the coat so it does not mat. The reason I give this information is simple, you have to learn how to cut a Bichon in more than one way, depending on it's age.

And yes, the lady loved the haircut. Whew!!
