Marijuana and CNBC

Right now, 13 states have regulation on the books stating it’s not a crime to acquire small amounts of marijuana. Globally, other countries have comparable legislation. CNBC is broadcasting Marijuana Inc. an hour long look at the American marijuana industry. Marijuana is not on Wall Street, but on many streets in America. Marijuana has become a thriving money harvest. CNBC's Trish Regan goes behind the scenes to discover the inside workings of this mysterious business, spotlight on Northern California's "Emerald Triangle," at present the marijuana capital of the U.S. In this picturesque spot of America, the marijuana industry, much of it legal under state law, now makes up as much as 2/3’s of the local financial system. There are thousands of people favorable to marijuana being legal on Twitter, just one of many social networks. Followers have names like Weed Feed Marijuana News. This latest news about marijuana legalization, decriminalization and medical marijuana comes from Chicago. CANNAMEDINC MARIJUANA DOCTORS are a group of medical marijuana doctor, located in Thousand Oaks, CA. The website with the same name professes to do evaluations, provide medical marijuana card, employ pot doctors, and give medical marijuana consultations. Marijuana Photos tweets daily marijuana pictures. There are at least three pages of twitters with thousands of sympatric followers.

Marijuana and Law Enforcement

The U.S.  Drug Enforcement Administration offers the con about medical marijuana on their website, Exposing the Myth of Smoked Medical Marijuana, Marijuana: The Facts http://www.usdoj.gov/dea/ongoing/marijuana.html. According to the February 2009 press release, Drug Enforcement is diligent in cracking down on marijuana use. DES issued warrants concerning indoor marijuana grow business in Washington state. The joint effort by law enforcement was part of ‘Operation Green Reaper’. To show how serious the effort is to stop marijuana, the task force included law enforcement officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration and Tahoma Narcotics Enforcement Team (TNET), consisting of of the Washington State Patrol, Washington Department of Corrections, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tacoma, Puyallup, Bonney Lake, and Auburn Police Departments. According to the press release, the crimes and charges are carrying a punishment of up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million dollar fine.
