Legally Blonde The Musical
We saw the premier of "Legally Blonde" this week in San Francisco. The musical is based on the book and movie "Legally Blonde". The book was written by Amanda Brown, the down-to-earth author whom we suprisingly met at an afterparty with her daughter; the movie starred Reese Witherspoon.
Paul and I thought the show was amazing. I have to say, I'm a bit biased; one of my best friends since I was three is in the show. (Her name is Beth Curry, and she's in the ensemble, so she's a bunch of parts including the stenographer.)
That being said, I thought the show was very entertaining. It was funny, had great dancing, singing, jump roping, clever lyrics, etc. The main character, Elle Woods played by Laura Bell Bundy, did a fantastic job. She was very appealing and had a great voice. The show is appropriate for all ages; I would take my four year old to see it as well as my parents. The music is catchy; much to my daughters' chagrin, I've been singing "Oh my God, Oh my God you guys" all week.
Legally Blonde will be going to Broadway in April. It's playing at the Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco until Feb. 24th. Check it out if you can still get tickets. I've linked to a few reviews below.
