Lego Star Wars
83Are you a lover of all things Star Wars? Do you build all things Lego like? Then you, like me are in seventh heaven.....
My Lego Star Wars Builds:
Imperial Star Destroyer
I started my Lego Star Wars building with the Imperial Star Destroyer, a present to me from my wife - no-one escapes the clutches of the empire!!!
Despite the fact that some of the pieces broke off relatively easily, (simple application of a bit of glue here and there) I managed to get it completed in 5 evenings enjoyable building. I was personally surprised at the end size of it, finding space to keep it was also a mission of its own.
Overall I liked the attention to detail and the escape pod and the figures were my personal favorites. Although quite a big first project, I was definitely hooked!!
Millennium Falcon
My first purchase I made was the Millennium Falcon, WOW what a fantastic purchase - one of my best ever. It now proudly sits in the games room, a 3ft long master piece. You have to be able to walk around the Falcon to truely appreciate the details, placing it on a shelf you can't truely appreciate the entrance. Its hard to fault this set at all, if I had to find one point to moan about it would be the price, very high, but then again money very well invested...
Death Star ll
In my opinion the hardest build in the Star Wars series for me has been the Death Star ll. Not particulally because it was technically so difficult to complete but because I had to re-start several times. The stand is a little wobbily and sometimes I managed to catch it before it fell and sadly sometimes not, the 'unfinished' side was a little tricky to complete, but again well worth the time and investment.
Other great Lego sites:
Lego Star Wars AT-AT
Again the price leaves a little to desired but I am now getting used to have to spend a little more for the Lego Star Wars Sets. I'm sure these kits in the future will be a good investment for anyone willing to keep them in the attic for a rainy day.
The AT-AT has a few flaws that need to be addressed by Lego at some point, firstly it has no passengers in the back/body - it is originally an all-terrain transporter and carries only 2 people in the cockpit. You can however dangle a character from the belly on a rope - a nice feature. Also in my opinion the back legs are bent in the wrong direction - but that is also a topic of discussion with a friend of mine, jury is still out!
What I do find great about the AT-AT is that they have made a moving Lego Star Wars set. It is not a great fan of walking on carpet (at all) and you really have to watch out that it doesn't fall over on the stuff. On tiled/smooth flooring however it walks perfectly. The head also moves side to side as it walks.
Overall it was quite a tricky build, some really fiddlely bits but again worth it in the end and an absolut must have to the collection.
