Beans, Peas, and Lentils:

There are many beans jokes told over the dinner table. For example: There live a woman who had a extremely passion for baked beans. She loved them but unfortunately they had always had a very embarrassing and somewhat lively reaction to her. (lol)

Beans, peas and lentils are from the family of leguminosae. Legume, is the part that protects the seeds while they are forming and ripening. Leguminosae is the second largest in the plant kingdom. This family group use of resources in such a way as to maximize the production of goods and services that our society uses. Beans, peas, and lentils can produce more per unit and still rank at the lowest economical cost today.

You can find them on acres and acres, row after row of black-eye peas, pinto beans on farm land in east Texas. They grow in many different colors. Lentils is of the leguminosae family too, it is a brushy plant that grows about 15 inches and it seeds grow in pods. It comes in a variety of colors as well.

These leguminosae plants are nutritious and inexpensive beans. They also have a cholesterol lowering ability. Legumes contain a water-soluble fiber called pectin that surrounds cholesterol and chaperones it out of the body before it can cause trouble.

The dry form of these beans can be found in your neighborhood store. Such as lentils, lima beans, soybeans, black-eyed peas, kidney beans, pinto beans, black beans and navy beans. If you are a soup lover, you will find a number of fully cooked beans mix in with other vegetables and tomato juices to give it that rich favor and keep the calories down to under 100. So check the label next time you warm up that cup of soup.

The woman at the beginning of this article joke, love beans (legumes) but hate living with the consequences! One of the better ways to prevent excessive gas

From eating beans is to cook them longer or soaking them more than 12 hours. During this will reduce the gas-producing compounds.
