FORGET ABOUT VIRUSES

Computer users are well aware about this alien but disgusting virtual creatures. Symptoms of a possible virus attack are shutting down of your computer without your knowledge, appearance of strange windows on your Desktop, a flood of advertisement without you hitting on it, sending of email to all your contacts like an automated programme do e.t.c.This is because Windows never apply audit principles (simply scrutiny) when an alien programme appears within its periphery. Whereas, in Linux, system details the administrator to look into the identity of the visit-er. Then the Administrator can decide is it genuine or otherwise. If you are not the Administrator you can do nothing, you can just avoid or ignore such invaders. This is like a house with an open door every time and a house with closed door with all precaution to block the invaders. However, it is true that a strong weapon can easily destroy any strong door. So, possibility of virus attack in Linux platform is not nil but, it is a rarest of the rare phenomenon.

IS YOUR SYSTEM UNSTABLE?

Often crashing Windows makes havoc not only in your computer but in your mind too. Because your saved data will not remain there if you are not putting extra time to backup it. For this we can give only 60 marks out of hundred to Windows but Linux gains 99 marks!

IS YOU COMPUTER SAFE IN WINDOWS PLATFORM?

Protection from whom? Viruses, trojans, ad-wares, spy-wares e.t.c. How to protect it? By installing programmes such as firewall, antivirus, anti adware et al or get rid of Internet Explorer and Outlook instead go for Firefox or Thunderbird. Another option is praying to God but result may be less than 1% in this option as the great discoverer Thomas Alva Edison rightly remarked "Victory is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration". Then why not think about the option of installing Linux! After this you can save this unnecessary times of worry and you can relax instead. Another factor involved in this is the skyrocketting prizes for this softwares but Linux comes practically free.

HOW LINUX WILL PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER?

Open source software have access to millions of programmers world over. Linux have such a huge manpower to look into your problem. Whereas Windows source code have access to a few thousand programmers working under the management of Microsoft. When you submit a problem before the Linux programmers they will respond within days, but a problem reported by a windows user would receive a reply only after weeks or months or even never. Prize for a Windows licence cost an average of 1/4 your new computer! Linux comes free!

FREEDOM

Anyone is allowed to copy, see, modify or redistribute Linux source code as long as it remains licenced with General Public Licence (GPL). In the absence of Windows management, nobody become allowed to enter into its source code. However, Linux remains in the public domain. So such a possibility is remote.

WHY SOME FILES LOOK STRANGE IN WINDOWS?

Classical example of this is a pdf file without the Acrobat Reader software. It really look horrible just like a virus. So with the installation of Windows the work really not over but just started like the need of a Photoshop with the same horrible prizes. Whereas the Linux package comes with a more comprehensive programme, which includes text writing, spread sheet editing, make neat presentation, draw, edit equation e.t.c. The package also includes web browser Mozila Firefox, email manager Thunderbird/Evolution, image editor GIMP, an Instant Messenger, Movie Player, Music Player, a pdf reader, zip unzipp e.t.c.

EASY UPGRADATION

Windows has its own update tool called 'Windows Update'. What about non Microsoft soft-wares? Adobe? Zip? Burn? Mozila? Photo Shop? Coral? You have to prepare a schedule to fulfill these tasks. Prizes involved is another worrying factor. Linux has a Package Manager. Just click 'Install Update'. Your task is over!

WHY GO FOR PIRATED MATERIAL

Pirated software is almost common. When using such software with a Broadband Internet connection you must be cautious about hidden client programmes to alert the owner that you are using and encouraging Piracy! Then why not try Linux it is totally free and also free from the apprehension that you might caught for Piracy.

HOW TO GET NEW SOFTWARES?

In Windows environment you must surf the net, download it, install it and reboot most of the time for using a new software. Whereas in Linux its Package Manager will do all these tasks and you can relax the extra time. Open 'Package Manager' type key words then select ok. Your task is over.

IS NEXT GENERATION DESK TOP POSSIBLE IN LINUX?

3D and transparency possibilities are a reality in Linux too. It is possible without high end hardware requirement the Vista demands.

BETTER MANAGEMENT OF FILES

More we use Windows the slower it is to access files. When more we use Linux the faster it is.

IF ANYTHING HAPPENED REINSTALL WINDOWS!

Due to its design flaws Windows tend to diminish its performance. Some times you might be fed up with the dialogue box, 'this programme is not responding'. In Linux forget about this ghostly feeling.

SUPPORT FROM BACKGROUND

Web Forums, Mailing Lists, MIRC Channels e.t.c. will help you from behind. Enjoy the affection.

INSTANT MESSANGER MAGICIAN

You might be using multiple messengers in Windows platform like yahoo, gmail, aol, msn e.t.c. Imagine all these work done by a single programme. It is possible in Linux! The magician is 'Pidgin'. Enjoy your chatting.

REQUIREMENT OF HARDWARE UPGRADATION

Hardware gradation make a drain in your pocket. This happens every time Windows launch its new version. But Linux works in every old hardware platform but it will take a little time to become conversant with newest hardware.

HELP OTHER COUNTRIES

While buying Windows or any proprietary software, half of the money goes to its owner especially the US. Your country gains nothing in this dealing. While using Linux you can create its own supportive system.

Here I appreciate the hub my fellow hubber provided about Linux. I think it worth a read.
