Leona Lewis Autobiography and Videos.
From the east end of London to Times Square U.S.A. in just over a year, Leona Lewis was the first British artist to top the US bill board with her latest single Bleeding Love..
Bio: Leona Lewis was born Leona Louise Lewis on 3 April 1985 in Highbury, in the London borough of Islington, she is of Afro Caribbean and Welsh descent.
She was five when she attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School then the Italia Conti Academy and the BRIT School. She wrote her first song aged twelve and won a many talent competitions. She left school and took a number of jobs to pay to get into a recording studio, including waitressing and several receptionist jobs..
When she was fifteen years old, she recorded a version of Minnie Riperton's "Lovin You" with music producer Marley J. Wills. It was looking like her career was going nowhere and was considering quitting the music industry until her boyfriend persuaded her to enter The X Factor.
She made it all the way through to the final stages with ease and was voted the winner winning a £1 million recording contract.
Leona Lewis - First XFactor Audition
In 2006, I watched as Lewis auditioned for the third series of The X Factor, singing "Over the Rainbow".. I knew from that moment she would win the competition
She of course sailed through to the final stages and was announced the winner on 16 December 2006. Her voice has been consistently praised by anyone who has had anything to say about her including all three judges, Simon Cowell who was her mentor, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne. She has been compared with divas such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion but Leona is no diva! Quite far from it! She is extremely modest shy and very humble and a Beautiful natural singer.
Leona Lewis - A Moment Like This (Winners Performance)
Her UK debut single, "A Moment like This", was released in December 2006, again breaking a world record. after it was downloaded well over 50,000 times within
Half n hour..On 24 December it became the 2006 UK Christmas number-one single selling more copies than Take That's single "Patience" and outselling the total Top 40's sales combined! The single became the biggest downloaded song in 2006, beating Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" and stayed at number one for four weeks, and stayed at the top of the Irish Singles Chart for six weeks and went on to sell well over 1 million copies and still counting.
Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis
Her second single, "Bleeding Love" was the biggest selling single of 2007 in the UK
which topped over 30 national singles charts and became a number one single on the first week in France on March 22 and number one in the US on April 5, 2008 making Leona the first British artist to debut at number one..The song was produced and written by Ryan Tedder and Jesse McCartney,
Since Leona won X Factor in 2006, its taken just over a year for Leona's career to really take off. The 2007 winner of X Factor Leon Jackson will hopefully break some more records just like Leona.

Who knows the stars better than compu-smart. Thumbs up!
I agree with William's comment. I saw her in an Youtube video X Factor, she was awesome, glad to see she is doing great. I hope she remains like this and doesn't become Britney or other crazy artists.
This is already a staple in heavy rotation for the DJs that know. You are in on the ground floor here. Let's just hope she offers more depth beyong the first single which is just a smash the way that beat jumps in.
Sometimes a big single can swallow them whole though.
Corinne Bailey Rae? We may never see her again.
Good job compu-smart.
Nice comments about Leona!
Leona Lewis is Simon Cowells bread n butter, although he has enough money already, but hes also responsible for her future and very very proud of her and wants her to do well and get better and better and be the biggest in the world breaking record after record!! I'm confident she will, but because shes extremely shy n reserved and does not love the lime light with everything that come with being a famous singer, yet what she does love is to sing and perform.
Thats just my 2 pence worth.
I wonder what the American gals think about Leona!?Hmm.In the UK, we all love her..
Thanks guys!
Though I hardly know Leona Lewis, I would certainly like to add it IS hard to become famous on one's debut. Thanks CS for bringing the lady to lime light. She really deserves the applause. And thumbs UP to you too!
I just can't see any videos here.May be my PC has a prob.
Hi Abhinaya..Thanks for letting me know that Leona is still not as widely known as i thought! I just want her to be the best as she can become a great British export!
The videos are working my end!:)
her one song that goes "keep breathing...keep keep breathing" or somthing like that is hot!
Hi dutch!!
The song in question is above called Keep Bleeding!!, i think keep breathing would have been more appropriate!!
;)
I agree with Dutch. That song is awesome. Ha-ha. She is an amazing artist. I think it is fair to compare her to all those peole; Mariah Carey, and Whitney Housten, She is probably better than them though. Thanks for the great hub. I just did one on her and Kelly Clarkson.
