Looking back Leopard's appeal
The leopard print motif is enjoying popular attention right now, but it's not just a trend, it's a decades old classic that has "hot" revival moments now and then. Think back, depending on your age/era, to images of Loretta Young or Joan Crawford with a leopard scarf from the 50s. Think of Andy Warhol muse, Edie Sedgewick, in a leopard mini-dress or Jaqueline Onassis with a leopard scarf from the 60s. Faye Dunaway in a Leopard blouse in the 70s movie Network, or Diana Ross in a VOGUE magazine layout in leopard fashions. Picture Cindy Crawford or Joan Collins in Leopard prints. And remember Shania Twain's head to toe Leopard cape and gloves and shoes in her "That Don't Impress Me Much" music video?

Fun to see the comparisons- especially the doggie coat and onesie, LOL. My question is, what's up with Paris's shoes?
Entertaining hub - thanks. We will be avoiding leopard print tights. Might consider a bag or a belt.
Rodney, I think I speak for all...glad Leopard not your thing!
Story, Paris' shoes are little gold flats to go with her metallic gold bag...and with Paris...LOL... one can never tell "what's up"!
2Pats, no leopard tights for me either...wonder where she even found them! I do have a leopard scarf I wrap around a purse strap now and then, and while Katie Holmes looks good in her leopard dress...I know I can't pull off an entire dress with that much leopard !
I love leopard! for me it has never gone out of fashion. Wheter it is a hat, trims on jackets or gloves, belts, or even high heels... I love it. Great pictures, and NO, NO for leopard tights they look like a disease ;-)
Princessa, glad you could stop by! Welcome! I agree with you that leopard never goes OUT of fashion, but it does seem that it's fashion profile is higher some years than others...and this seems to be a big time for Leopard! Ralph Lauren certainly thinks so for his Fall/Winter 2008 collection and advertisements...who knows why this classic pattern enjoys heavy resurgences now and then? You're right....NO to leopard tights...Yikes!
I cant stand Leopard but this was a good post
Glad you enjoyed the column...Yeah, it seems leopard is a real love it or hate it kind of print...a little goes a long way and so easy to overdo it! Thanks for stopping by!
