Take my hand and come with me…..to a not too distant past I like to remember as the Old School days! The one thing I remember the best about my Old School days was the exciting nights spent down at the roller skate rink to show off my moves to the opposite sex on the wood floors.
I never was too much for riding bikes as a kid so I decided to get good at something…and skates were my bag baby!!!!!! I became so good on the floor with my skates that I could take over the floor like wild child. I wish I had some photos to show you but the memories live on in my mind fresh as yesterday. Those were great times when us girls would go to dance, have fun and try to impress the guys so that one lucky gentleman could win an opportunity at the end of the night to pair up for the couple skate.
Looking back you can actually realize that no matter what place you grew up in..the ghetto or the suburbs there seemed to be a an equal amount of people who loved the rhythm of skating to old school music on those classic wood floors of the Roller Rink. You could be rich or poor and it didn’t matter. Nothing but your ability to skate mattered. You could be anyone out on that floor. And that's what made that place so great!
The best memories I have as a kid and a young adult were of the great memories I spent on Sunday Nights skating my butt off with my girlfriends. I can listen to certain songs and it literally takes me back mentally to the times where all my worries were so superficial and unimportant. And all that mattered to us was looking hot on the dance floor.......
So this hub is dedicated to the art of bad ass rollerskating and endless pleasures! Not rollerblading but real speed skate dancing. So sit back and enjoy the view from your front seat. Check out all these videos. Some are videos of skaters that I found on YOU TUBE with some pretty bad ass moves (a few of these videos are at Belmont Park in San Diego/another place we would frequent on a hot summer day). And the rest are just some great songs that I remember skating to. If you close your eyes and listen to the beat you can imagine yourself skating to the music too!......what great memories.

Actually yes, I am passing that love down to them. That is a tradition we are trying to make happen every week now. I really love it and I am looking forward to going more often now! I love to dance backwards and show off!
What a cool Hub lady, it took me way back to our skating days a Picketts Lock Center..lol.
My Giggles love skating, ice mainly but what a memories you have brought back from my youth.. Heady days, heady days.
Thankyou for sharing.
Nick
I used to skate only rarely and was good enough to avoid falling but I had to go in circles, nothing crazy for me lest I bust my hind end and make a fool of myself. Anyway this was a fun trip down memory lane.
Our roller rink was built jutting out over the lake. On those hot summer nights they would open up windows all around and the night breeze would waft in and cool us as we circled to 60's rock n' roll. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, JJ :)
Netbiz Nick- I am happy to bring back good memories, thanks for visiting.
Wesley- ahhh that is so cute. I remember some of the guys being like that. I would have taken you out on the floor and taught you how to skate. =)
jess- That is so cool. What good memories you must have. I am glad to bring some back for you.
Being the shameless Individual I am I have to admit at 15 I was part of the speed skating team at our local roller rink !
I of course thought I was the coolest thing on wheels , but so did everyone else. And I loved that video done over at Belmont Park and have seen them going at It many times.
Thank you for a totally fun hub here !
Tony-I am so impressed you were in the speed skate team! Well next time I am in Dago I will certainly have to hit you up for a night at the roller rink for fun! lol Thanks for visiting my hub and liking it! =)

Chica, you wild child you! I had no idea you were a skater chick! LOVED the music in this hub. Makes me want to get out there on the floor and shake my groove thang!
I hope you are passing down the love of skating to your kids. I used to take mine to King Skate on Sundays. It was a blast.
Thumbs up, my friend. You keep revealing fun new facets to your personality. Love that! xo, MM
