Let’s Go Green – Learning To Go Green Together
Join me in my quest to go green! It’s time to get off our bottoms and become more eco-friendly, earth friendly and environmentally friendly together... I’ve found some great tips to get the go green ball rolling! With any luck we will make a green difference to the world!
Ah yes, once again the new year is upon us. We are all thinking of ways to improve our new year with our new year’s resolutions! I bet you’ve come up with quite a few already... I know I have. Unfortunately for me, none of my resolutions were kept last year (which is quite typical of course... ). So, this year I’m going to head towards the more achievable goals.
One of my new year’s resolutions this year is to go green. Yep, I want to be more eco-friendly, earth friendly and environmentally friendly. And yes, this time I plan to keep my new year’s resolution. I’ve already done my go green research and now I’m going to share it, because I could do with some green support! Wouldn’t it be nice if we could do it together? We can clear our conscious of all those times we’ve knowingly wasted water, created unnecessary waste and wasted electric. You don’t need to be a hippy loving tree hugger to reduce your green carbon footprint, ya know! But if ya really want to, by all means go ahead... ;-)

Quick Start Guide – Easy Ways To Go Green This New Year
Ok, so are you ready to start checking out our go green routine to start living in green serene? (ha! That rhymes!) Ok good... Let’s get cracking!
Let’s Go Green Living Tip # 1
Take Short Showers instead of Baths
When I first read about the amount of water we waste in a single bath I was shocked... Did you know every time we take a bath we waste 50 gallons of water? Yes, who would have thought an innocent bath would be such a waste of water. Oh crikey... this is going to be a tough one for me. I really enjoy my baths, especially when it’s hot and bubbly with loads of bath salts. But, sacrifices have to made, especially f I’m serious about going green and embracing the green living life.
I’ve put together a list of reasons why a shower will be as good as a bath. Hopefully this will help keep me motivated in giving up my luxurious bath times. For a start, showers are refreshing, they rinse my hair a heck of lot better than in the bath, you can adjust the heat anytime you want, it’s quick so if I’m in hurry ill get out the door quicker and it makes me sound like a pop star (what? As if you don’t sing in the shower to!). There, a list to name a few of the reasons why showering will be better. Just hope it does the trick..
Let’s Go Green Living Tip # 2
Use cold water to wash both whites and darks
Ok, so I’m not a domestic goddess... but I think I can handle this one. It sounds easy enough right? If you switch over to the cold wash, your whites will be just as white and you’ll be saving 35 gallons of hot water! Who would have thought... Plus, using cold water helps preserve the colour of your garments and stops your clothes shrinking (which I have a terrible habit of doing, by the way).
Now, let’s not forget the best part of this cold wash tip – it gets your gas bill down to heck of a lot less. If I can get that old gas bill down I’m definitely up for this one! It’s like a win-win situation... which is twice as nice.
Let’s Go Green Living Tip # 3
Halt the daily junk mail barrage
Here is one for the books, a hundred million trees are used to produce unwanted junk mail each year! Well, I for one never read my junk mail, but what pains me more is that all these trees are cut down for the sake of us throwing it the bin as soon as it hits our post box. What an absolute waste. But, the good news is that you have a right to stop all the unwanted junk mail and save yourself from drowning in unwanted catalogues.
There are two Websites that can help: New American Dream is a do-it-yourself approach that takes about 20 minutes of your time and can remove your name from commercial lists for three to five years. Then there is Green Dimes, who charges 10 cents per day to professionally get you off the lists — and keep you off!
Sign me up chaps!
Go Green Serene it is then!
So there you are. Three go green tips for you to get started on! Next week I’ll be adding another three for us. Hopefully by then we’ll be a bit more used to the green living way of life.
Let’s go green - One small step for man, a giant leap for mankind... Thought that was kind of fitting! ;-)
Happy New Year!
