Thirty lakh rupees from the central government
and 25 lakh from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
“It’s just great,” Bindra told Reuters just before climbing on to the podium.

lol, I'm with Rochelle. While I'm happy as heck for Bindra and for India, I went the whole way through this article hoping I was gonna find out what he won it for without having to search online. lol
Yeah, I had to look it up too-- I guess the medal was the most important thing.
Congratulations! You must feel proud as a nation.
Thanks to all and I am really sorry I forgot to mention the event in the excitement. Now I have included the event in the hub. It was 10 m air rifle individual shooting event.
I know it's a great achievement for India as a whole since Bindra is the first individual gold medalist, but what impresses me most about it is the fact that for all of his practice, preparation and sacrifice, he was able to win a gold medal.
Thanks talented_ink for comments. You are right but officials of Govt. of India also need appreciation in this case as they have identified the potential of Indian shooting team much earlier and provided all support in the form of training and equipment to Indian Shooting team.
