New research by eminent scientist and neurosurgeon, Richard Bergland has drawn attention to a way to increase your brain strength.

By stimulating both sides of our brains we are increasing neurotransmitter activity to both the right and left sides of our brains.

Unfortunately our modern day culture prevents us from using the right side of the brain as much as we should.

The right side of the brain works completely differently to the left side, it deals more in creativity.

The Two Parts Of The Brain

The right brain is your nonverbal and intuitive brain areas of the brain. The way it works is it thinks in patterns. It look at relationships, or pictures that are composed of ‘whole things,’ - it does not comprehend reductions, either numbers, letters, or words. Abstract thoughts and concepts like "what is beauty" or what is faith works via the right side of the brain.

The left side of your brain works in the rational. It deals with the verbal and rational brain. It is able to think serially and reduces its thoughts to numbers, letters and words.

The Key To Increase Your Brain Power

Drawing may hold the key to stimulating your right side of your brain. When we draw it forces us to use the right side of the brain - we access areas of the brain we otherwise would not in normal day to day living.

Why We Don't Use OUr Right Side Of The Brain?

Our society values more the left side of the rain then the right - the core learning subject at school are Maths, Science and English, art is considered more a novelty in the western world. Employment in the best pay jobs are Stock Broking, Law, Engineering, areas that predominately use more the left side of the brain.

How to Start Increasing Your Brain Power

Learning to draw means learning to make a mental shift from our commonly used L-mode to R-mode. A person trained in drawing can do this. The good new is that is what you can learn.

Once drawing is learned it can be used to record what you see either in reality or in your mind's eye. Like the way we can record our thoughts and ideas in words.

Vivienne Nelson is an Australian Drawing Artist Who is a master practicioner of - Drawing on the rights side of the brain.
