Xena: Warrior Princess ran in succesful syndication from 1995 until its cancellation in 2001. It was the fantasy of men and the empowerment of women. The show was most notably highlighted because of its Lesbian subtext. Loyal fans of the show, myself included, lived on the hope that a major motion picture would soon follow. However, a recent interview on the web of co-creator and executive producer, Robert Tapert, revealed that such expectations for the big screen are not materializing. He cited money and the rights to the show being no longer his as the reasons.

Despite this, the Xena movement lives on in DVDs, fan sites and show conventions. The cast of the show have now moved on to other artistics endeavours thanks to the iconic platform that the show provided them.

Lucy Lawless - "Xena"

The statuesque, blue-eyed actress that played Xena has had quite a busy string of post-show appearances and roles. She's also given into her singing talent which she has showcased in the show. She made her first stage singing debut in Celebrity Duets and released two albums: Come 2 Me and Come to Mama: Lucy Lawless in Concert: The Roxy Theater in Hollywood.

Memorable guest appearances were made by her in Battlestar Galactica and in The L Word. In 2010, she will delight her fans by going back to ancient times as a co-star in the Starz Channel new series called Spartacus: Blood and Sand also produced by Robert Tapert, whom she's been married to since 1998 after meeting on eachother on Xena. The couple brought to the world a second son together in 2002 adding to a total of three kids Lucy's a mother to.

Lucy is a continuous supporter of the Starship Foundation based in her native Auckland, New Zealand, which helps to raise funds for the Starship Children's Hospital. She lives in New Zealand with her husband and children.

Renee O'Connor - "Gabrielle"

This Texan portrayed Xena's best friend and traveling companion, Gabrielle, a bard that chronicled their adventures together. Of course, all of us of the Lesbian orientation will tell you their characters were more than just friends. I mean, c'mon, they've kissed on the show and were torn to pieces where they were apart.

After the end of the show, Renee had stayed in New Zealand with former husband Steve Muir, a Kiwi restaurant manager. However, in 2005 she was divorced and subsequently moved to the United States with her first son from that union.

She went on to create her own independent production company, ROC Productions. Her first film was called Diamonds and Guns available on DVD. Words Unspoken is her second movie, which has already won the 2009 Award of Merit, an Indifest film award. She finances her productions by selling her own artwork, self-autographed merchandise and as well as by charging a monthly fan club membership through her official website.

She's now involved with an actor named Jed Sura with whom she begot a daughter in 2006.

Renee is an accomplished painter and martial artist in several forms.

Kevin Tod Smith - "Ares"

This Kiwi's career after the show had a bright future after playing one of Xena's most memorable adversaries. However, it was cut short in a fall from several stories high after climbing on a movie prop. He had traveled to China to film Warriors of Virtue: 2. He suffered massive head injuries and was on life support for days with no signs of hope. He died in February of 2002 leaving behind a wife and three sons.

Had he not passed away, he would have had a role alongside Bruce Willis in Tears of the Sun movie and many more.

May he rest in peace.

Ted Raimi - "Joxer The Mighty"

Ted, who is Sam Raimi's younger brother, which co-produced the show, can currently be seen in both Supernatural and Legend of The Seeker shows in recurring roles.

He also had parts in the recent Spider Man movies also produced by older brother Sam.

He's writing a comedy which he will direct at the end of this year. I must say that, if you visit his official website, you can get into his wacky head by reading some of his personal postings.

Hudson Leick - "Callisto"

This former model turned psychotic warrior queen, is a favorite among Xena fans. I must say of all the villains of the show, she was the most fancied. Her signature scream when playing bent-on-revenge Callisto was a sound that became a trademark. Hudson treats her fans at Xena conventions with this hair-rising vocal display.

Hudson currently guides the Healing Yoga Center in California after obtaining her California Yoga Teacher's Association instructor/counselor certification.  She's been an avid practioner of Yoga for over 15 years.

Alexandra Tydings - "Aphrodite"

The actress and daughter of former United States Senator Joseph Tydings from Maryland, hasn't been seen much on television after the end of Xena except for convention appearances.

Since the show, Alexandra has been married with three children and, like Hudson Leick, has become a certified Yoga teacher. She teaches Rock 'n Roll Yoga classes at the Hot Yoga Washington Studio in Washington, D.C.

Karl Urban - "Julius Ceasar" and "Cupid"

So far, this Kiwi has been enjoying international Hollywood stardom by having roles in many box office hits. He's starred in The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Riddick, The Bourne Supremacy, Doom, and the recent Star Trek 2009 movie.

Claire Stansfield - "Alti"

Of all of Xena's nemesis, Alti, was the most powerful and wicked of them all. Not to mention, she surpassed her in strength and in height. The English-born actress stands at a commanding 6'1" opposite of Lucy Lawless' 5'10".

She founded the 70's-themed C & C California clothing line later picked up by Liz Clairborne in 2005.
