One of those days....

Have you ever had one of those days, or weeks, or months, where it seems everything that could possibly go wrong does. Welcome to my world. Ever heard the saying "If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all"? That saying could be specifically for me. I am not a pessimist, nor am I an optimist. I often believe my glass is completely empty. I suppose it's up to me to fill it up, with hope and love, which is the liquid of my life.

It seems to me...

It is my opinion that every waking day is one of two things, a blessing or a curse, for lack of a better word. I have never had a completely ordinary day. I know that sounds strange, it does to me but  it's always either a great day or it feels like possibly, the worst day of my life. Isn't that a funny saying? It should be "the worst day of my life..... so far". Things can get worse in the blink of an eye or, on the contrary, things can get better before you have a chance to turn around.

Looking back.....

I remember when I was a kid, just out of high school and out on my own. I encountered a "disaster" of some sort, who knows. I called my father for emotion support or a pep talk. I learned something that day that sticks with me to this day.In all my ranting and raving about everything going wrong I said, "It's just not fair!!". My dad, one of the smartest men I know replied, simply "Dolly, who said like was supposed to be fair?" My brain clicked. What logic and so simple really. Life is NOT fair. You always want to be better or richer or have a bigger house or whatever. But if you let those thoughts get you down, those feelings get in your way, then you can never really live you life to the fullest.

So what if it's a bad day....

Often times I have to remind myself that EVERYONE has bad days, everyone. Some people have worse days, everyday, through no fault of their own. I have to look at the blessings in my life, all the good that surrounds me, that fills me, that IS me. Of course I've had "that" day which is a complete disaster but I know that can change in an instant for the better. That doesn't mean I'll stop saying "things couldn't get worse". Look around at the world today, get a good look, and just realize, of course they can. Count your blessings everyday, you'll come to find they are plentiful and your heart content, just as I have learned. My glass is overflowing.

                                     My Glass Is Overflowing

                                      I thank God for EveryDay.

The liquid of my life is abundant.
The liquid of my life is abundant.

A lovely hub and very true -- stuff happens. And sometimes the difference between a good or bad day depends on the mindset we woke up with.

As a very wise but very crude cowboy up in Alberta told me -- if one foot is still in yesterday, and one in tomorrow, you can bet on it -- you're pissing on today.

This is a very true post. Nothing is ever fair. Nothing in this world ever is. Sometimes, really good things happen to us, like getting married, or having a baby, or finding gas on sale at the gas station you decided to stop in. These things only happen a few times in our lives. Most of the time, is robotic, mundane bs that we think is better than bad days, but in the end, it's all the same. We just have to be thankful for what we have. But then, as the saying goes, if you know exactly how much you really have, you really dont have much. I wish things were fair.

I think we all wish life was fair. If it was I'd be a queen or something equal to it. But grab yourself up by the bootstraps and realize, it's not. Thanks for the comment 18!

When I get down...somtimes I list my blessings or remind myself how fortunate I am, just to have a home, running water, people in my life that love me. And of course I pray alot. Keep filling the the glass with hope and love. You seem to have a pretty good outlook. I like that, and loved the comments on grabbing the boot straps. I don't think God ever gives us more than we can handle. That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

When I get down I just think about those that have it worse than me - and there are several. Gratitude changes things. I loved your pictures and the hub was thought provoking.
