I have always had a fascination with numerology. Numerology is the study of numbers, and how numbers affect our lives. I know there are some people out there who believe it is all just a myth or foolishness, but if you really think about how powerful numbers are involved at controlling our everyday life, you just might open your mind to the thought that numbers and numerology can play a significant role in our lives.
Numbers control our lives. We live our lives based on numbers. In fact, our whole world is run on numbers. Without numbers, we would have no way of managing time. Money would be useless, because it would have no value. There would be no long distance communication.

Pros and Cons of Numbers
The Pros and Cons if numbers no longer existed in our lives.
Clocks:
Con: No more telling what time it is, when we get up, when we go to bed, we would have to go back to using the shadow of a stick method. We would all be required to know the exact position of the sun and moon to let us know when to do our everyday tasks.
Pro: We would never be late for anything ever again!
Calendars:
Con: No more appointment, holidays, or schedules. Did you ever forget someone's birthday, or anniversary?
Pro: Just think without numbers on a calendar to keep track of dates, you would never have to worry about forgetting again. We could all celebrate holidays, and special occasions on the first full moon of the months.
Money:
Con: No money, without the math we would not know how much money is worth, every piece of paper would look the same; every single coin would look the same.
Pro: I seriously cannot think of a pro to having no money in this world. If there was no money to use as an exchange system, I can only think of two ways for people to exist, either by hard labor using the barter system, or stealing. (both options are not my cup of tea.)
Communication:
Con: No mail, because no addresses. No phone calls.
Pro: No more junk mail, telemarketing phone calls.

on and on. We would be back to living in the primitive years without numbers. Do
you still think numbers are not that important? Try living a week without using
any numbers, it simply cannot be done.It is basically impossible to get through one day without using numbers.

Well. I gotta admit -- every time I look at a digital clock around 9:00, it's always 9:11. Not 9:08 or 9:13. I think I must have programmed my internal clock somehow. And every time I see the numbers, I think of September 11th, 2001 and say a prayer for those everywhere (not just on that day) who have lost their loved ones to terrorism. It's my little ritual, I guess. And the numbers 3 and 7 are a nicer color and flavor than other numbers (especially 2 and 4). I have no idea what that means.

I think it is amazing how much you are aware of your surroundings and know how numbers play a part in your life. It's not hard for me to believe that you are very psychic, most people with your sensitivity and compassion for others are much more capable of having a higher level of these gifts.
I love the comment about 333 in your life. I started studying numerology because my birthday is 02/02 and everything in my life good has revolved around 222. Hey Teresa, It is amazing how so many people have experiences with numbers. I have to admit that the if the 911 thing was happening to me that I would be a little creeped out. It is awesome that you turned a bad thing associated with those numbers to a great thing :-) I agree with you that 3 and 7 seem to be very lucky and numbers that are involved in good things, at least in the biblical and gambling sense. My life revolves around the numbers 2 and 4 but those two specific numbers have always brought good things in my life. Thank you for visiting and your wonderful comments. It's a mystery to me too - how a hubscore starts at 50 and then plummets as people begin to read the hub, before crawling upwards again!

To me numerology is like astrology, hand reading etc. I take it all with a very large grain of salt. I find it a little disturbing, in that when we do any of these the ideas and thoughts implanted may cause one to change direction or get ideas.
I have had personal experiences in the direction I just mentioned. I especially dislike when someone in any of these fields try to talk about the future.
Hi Birte, I am sorry that you have had bad experiences with numerology and or astrology. I have always been fascinated with them, because they help bring out more of the spiritual and psychic abilities in me. I always try to keep in open mind about anything spiritual or psychic, it helps me to grow and discover my soul.

Lol that hub is so what I am into, my lucky number is 7, I believe double digits play a big part in my life and for some reason also the number 15, totally enjoyed that. You deff got my number with that hub : )
Hey B.C I kind of had a feeling your a lucky 7. You are right about the double digits, they are considered the master numbers. The master numbers are considered to represent an older soul who has come into this lifetime to make an important contribution to humanity in a specific field.
Since I am enjoying studying Numerology so much, I plan to write a few hubs on this subject. I seemed to have found a niche that I really enjoy doing. Always wonderful to have you visit and comment B.C :-)
Interesting and I could not imagine living without out numbers , what is even more amazing is that they go from 1-0 and we have millions of combinations how in the heck does that work? Numerology is interesting and I am on my way to checking out that other hub. :)

My father had a book on numerology by Cheiro. That book answered many questions in my life which started with "why." :)

Great Article, This is the only part I didn't agree with. I believe money is one of societys greatest enemies, yet we all strive to have as much as possible. Money has huge influence on putting importance on the materialistic in life. In the "big picture" of life, "materialistic" does not matter.
I like how you debated other alternatives to money. I believe money is one of our greatest freedoms while being one of our greatest enemies.

Hello, again Marinealways24, I guess what I am saying is that without money to feed, clothe, and shelter people, People would always be putting their thoughts and focus on how to obtain these simple basics needs of life. Therefore, they would not have anytime to concentrate and focus on what really matters. At least that is my take on the money issue.
If people do not have something, they are always searching for it. When someone finds the thing, they are searching for they get a feeling of satisfaction, and then they can focus their thoughts on other things.Homeless and poverty stricken people can love others, but can they really see the big picture and enjoy all this world has to offer, without money to fulfill their basic needs? Hey Cris A, Great thought! I had never thought about the aging factor, of course that is because I get younger as the years go on. :-) Seriously, you can ask my children, I was 29 this year on my birthday, next year I will be 28!:-)

At first it didn't seem possible that astrology could determine someones personality but now I have to question this after seeing how strikingly similar many people I know are to their signs. I am going to look into this some more.

I was just reading my daily Astrology outlooks. I love this stuff. Not only that but I've always felt like I had a "psychic" ability with numbers, or even just coincidence, I'm not sure which. Something else cool that I've experienced in my life is that numbers play a "coincidental" role at times. For instance, after my ex's grandfather died, I was given their vehicle. The three numbers on the plate are 333. About 6 months after receiving the car, my [3rd] son was born in room #333. In my opinion, grandpa was watching over us and the new baby.
All three of my kids have an 8 in their birthdates somewhere. I see my birthdate (3/31) on the clock all the time! These are just a couple examples:)
