What makes a life good?

 My grandfather died this year.

He could have died last year, but he fought. He had infection after infection after infection but he kept recieving treatment. He kept fighting, he lived another year. He did not sign a DNR (do not recessitate) He had good days and bad days.

On one of his good days, he told me he was going to go back to Utah, because they needed him at the plant (he was a chemist in Utah a long time ago). He also asked me how Germany was treating me. "what exactly do you mean, Granddaddy?" "Don't you know where you are? Look out the window!"
Alright! Free vacation! Silly me, I thought I was in Washington!

What makes a life valuable though? I've heard people say that they would rather die than be in a wheelchair.
I've heard people say they don't want to live if they can't talk, or see or hear or a million things.

What makes a life valuable?

Is that up to the person living? The people to whom they bring joy? The people who have to put up with whatever is wrong with them?

My grandpa made me happy. He taught me to love music, he showed me how to love the outdoors; hiking, skiing, having fun in God's natural setting.

If the one person that you love more than anything is going to live, but not remember who you are...is that life? Or is that just...being?

No Day but Today

and Six Hundred minutes.

How do we measure a year? In Daylights? In Sunsets? In Midnights? In cups of coffee?

MEASURE IN LOVE! (if you haven't heard that song, click this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8iTeDl_Wug)

We can't decide for someone else what their life is worth. So instead of trying to make that decision, tell them that you love them.

Tell them that your life would be empty if they hadn't filled your heart with joy. Tell them that they deserve happiness.

If happiness means saying Goodbye....then say goodbye.
If happiness means letting them make their own decisions...let them do that.
If happiness means fighting for them when they can't...then you fight like it was your life that depended on it.

We might not have tomorrow. We might not have next month...or next year or another minute.

Hold the people you love closely. Let go of the small stuff. Be happy about what you have.

Who cares if I fell down yesterday. If my leg hurts today...I should be happy that it's only a bruise.
If I'm sick and am out for a week, I should be happy that it isn't a month.
If I have 3 weeks to live, why waste that time being mad about it? HAVE A GOOD 3 WEEKS!!! Enjoy yourself! Be happy!

=) Thank you! I'm sure all of your grandchildren will. Just don't throw things at them and call them names and you're pretty much in the clear. haha. But seriously. Thank you for your comment. =)
