Life With A Yorkie!

Our life, With Our Yorkie!
Our life with our Yorkie, Precious, is a never ending adventure! She is a ball of fur and energy! She's full of love and life! She always loves to play, and she's never met a person, she didn't want to be friends with! I've never seen, such a friendly breed! I've owned hunting dogs, labs, and mixed breeds, and the Yorkshire terrier, is by far, the most like a human, I've ever owned. She is so full of emotion, it's unbelievable! My husband, is wrapped around her little paw!! And she knows it! :) At 6.8 lbs. her size though small, is overwhelmed by her large personality. I've done a lot of research, since owning her, on the breed, and they seem small, but mighty. I guess, they don't realize, their own size. When we take walks, with her, she'd never be outdone, no matter how large the adversary! The boys, are over taken by her as well. I guess you could say, she, "rules our roost".
I guess what I enjoy most about her, is that she is my always faithful companion. She's always there to meet me at the door, when I return home from errands, or where ever. She meets my husband at the door, every night he comes home from work. The boys, and their friends, are instantly greeted, and overtaken, by her rapture of love and acceptance to all! Although she loves all people, she meets, she is not very welcoming of other dogs. I guess, since she is, "an only child", she is not very accepting toward other animals. As far as people, we were told to introduce her to many different people when she was a pup, and that she'd always be a friendly dog. We did that, but I'd never seen meanness in her disposition, thankfully. She gets so excited, when visitors come, that she sort of hyperventilates. Yorkies have such small trachea's, that when they are very excited, they take in more air, than the windpipe can handle, and they make a gasping, coughing, type sound. Until they settle back down. (We even breath in to her face, to get her to simmer back down) Someone who wasn't aware of the breed, would think, she's about to expire. But the vet has assured us, that it's quite natural, with this breed. And, my brother and sister in law, who have a yorkie as well, have the same situation, with their yorkie and visitors. She travels well in a car, how beit, she does like to walk from front to back making sure all who are in the car, are still safe and sound. She likes to look out the windows, and greet those around her. They are definitely not, a docile breed. On the contrary full of vim, vigor, and life! They are very stubborn, as she will even seem to pout to get her way. They even have what's known as a "yorkie whine", and she does it quite well. She loves her dog food, but enjoys peas and carrots as well. (And sometimes other treats, that my "spoiled hubby" will sneak her as well). she knows who she can conn. She really eats quite well. You have to be ever so careful, as their digestive systems, are quite sensitive, from their small breeding. We had her fixed, so, we've never enjoyed pups from her, although at times, I've regretted that decision. But, I was always worried, about her bearing pups, being so small. I'd love to have another, but her being the rule of this roost, I don't think another would be accepted by her. To me, there is no other breed. I'd surely own another, if Precious...would let me! LOL. Oh well, until that time, it's Precious and our family, a perfect, and precious...mix! Blessings, on the journey, and if you're deciding, on a breed, Let me suggest....A YORKIE!! :)
