Light Treatment?

Light Therapy consists of exposing the effected area of skin to an intense but very refined particular wavelength, or wavelengths of light, depending upon which condition is to be treated.

Studies have shown very good results to many suffering from disfiguring and unsightly skin disorders. Many sufferers are actually sent by their doctor to treatment centres where they are given a relatively short dose of the required light.

How Does Light Therapy Work?

Scienetists and health professionals have been studying the effect that aprticular wavelengths of light have on particular skin conditions. During these studies it has been discovered that most skin disorders do respond well to being exposed to short buut intense durations of specific wavelengths of light.

Acne almost completely clears from as little as 30minutes a day exposure in as little as 3-4 weeks. After this only smaller maintenance amounts of time are needed.

Information on exactly which wavelengths have the best effect is particular to each condition and only a couple of companies have started commercially manufacturering the specific bulbs required to give the required wavelength. Many people have reportably tried to make their own light box, but without the specific bulbs it's unlikely to be produce as satisfactory a result.

Full Spectrum Bulbs are quite widely available, yet they may emit quite a bright light they are usually quite weak in the particular wavelengths often required. Though if you aren't geting enough sunlight these are muchbetter than nothing.
