scientists at nokia have developed software that transforms a cellphone into a signal receiver and warns the user of an approching lightning strike. a lightning bolt is an electric current that emmits radio waves, with each bolt producing frequencies between 10 hertz to 5 gigahertz.according to scientists, the multiple receiver in phone, such as blue tooth,fm,triband, gsm and wi-fi,can be tuned to pick up these signals.the software then interprets them, works out the distance of lightening and tells the user if the strikes are getting closer.

Wow, this is new, and sounds fascinating. I am guessing though that this function would be limited to certain countries or high end phone models only. In Singapore, this function is actually pretty to think about but quite useless.
