LimeWire vs. BitTorrent: File Sharing Comparison

The knack of most people today is to get files like music, videos, and applications at the best possible way. Such has been offered by peer to peer (P2P) clients who have made file sharing a possibility over the Internet. It all boils down to using the most reliable P2P client available and leading the pack would be Limewire and Bittorrent.

File sharing and swapping has taken its share of controversies. Copyrights and legal issues have been brought up but file sharing does not technically mean that people are illegally distributing. But if there is one thing that is for sure, licensed software which usually states in its disclaimer agreement of disallowing users to distribute the program being shared should be given a second look. Ignorance for such fine prints is not a good excuse and they may end up facing legal proceedings if caught.

People browse the web for over a million possibilities of software and files that they would use for their individual utilization. The most popular to date has been that of music and videos. Both file types are not plainly for the personal computer use but has gone as far as files preferred to be stored in portable media today such as the iPod installment devices.

Limewire is acclaimed to be the best file downloading software on the web today. Billed as the fastest file sharing program, the forte that Limewire would best be known for is that of music. Their networks provide and open space sharing to other computers who may be using it although the security issues surrounding the connected computers leaves a lot of options for consideration. While there are acclaimed security scanning and safety measures being undertaken by Limewire, in the same way that most anti-virus software installations have glitches, the same reservations are done by Limewire users.

As far as downloads are concerned, Limewire can practically provide a lot of files as requested. But a person should be careful with the filename extensions since some files may not be similar to what they are actually looking for. Worse, it may even be harmful to the user's workstation anywhere.

As for Bittorrent, this has been another PSP client that has offered a complete package where a person merely has to search the web for hosting torrent files where complete music albums, movies, software applications and other needed files as e-books can be located here as well. While Limewire offers the same genres for download, Bittorrent offers a broader one since it covers full albums in music and safer screening. But Bittorrent has been known to conduct a closer screening procedure for its torrent files and has been more religious in maintaining security since some mischievous files are still bound to sneak past them.

Limewire and Bittorrent are without a doubt two of the leading file sharing P2P clients used today. Both may have similarities and difference but it all boils down to where a user will be comfortable. Security risks will always be around and it all depends on how well a user would be able to do the necessary screening prowess on the downloaded files they may have collected.

So the risk for such participation does not really rely on the preference of which among the two file sharing clients a person would choose. Rather it is how the user would be able to do the necessary procedures to ensure that such files are authentic, safe and usable for their original intentions.
