In August, 2002, Lindsay was cast opposite Jamie Lee Curtis for the Disney adaptation of the novel 'Freaky Friday' . It came out in 2003 and was a major box-office success worldwide. Lindsay received much critical  acclaim and also won won the 2004 MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Female, as well another Young Artist award nomination.

After moving to LA Lindsay's next project was the comedy 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' in 2004, another Disney novel adaptation. It was her first failed film but she still gor good reviews personally.

Her next movie, 'Mean Girls' in 2004 was written by "Saturday Night Live" writer, Tina Fey. it had glowing reviews and made a box-office fortune. Linday was now a major star.
